Wayne, IL - June 19, 2008 - Riders showed up today to wrap-up the second day of the Green Conformation Hunters, First Year Green Hunters, Second Year Green Hunters and Regular Working Hunters at the Wachovia Spring Spectacular II Horse Show. The event, held at the Lamplight Equestrian Center, continues through Sunday, June 22.
In the Green Conformation Hunters, Maggie Jayne of Elgin, IL rode her way to a championship aboard eight-year-old Huckleberry, owned by Alex Jayne of Elgin, IL. She also was reserve champion on Gianni, owned by Kelsey Thatcher from South Jordan, Utah.
"Huckleberry we have had for about six months. We bought him as a green horse from Europe and I also ride him in the First Years," said Jayne.
In the First Year Green Hunters, champion and reserve were awarded to Tammy Provost on Momentus and Almost Majic, both owned by Alliy Moyer of Carmel, IN. Both talented horses are six-year-olds imported from Europe.
"Both horses are so easy and kind. Alliy has started to show them in the Children's Hunters. They are very friendly and good jumpers," said Provost.
The Second Year Green Hunters had two over fences classes today as well. Riding her way to champion was Kristen Coe on Charade, owned by Laura King-Kaplan of Irvington, NY. Reserve champion was Addison Phillips on one of her two horses in the class, Mirasol. Phillips resides in New York City, NY.
In the Regular Working Hunters, the jumps were high and so was the competition. Riders were laying down one perfect round after another. Coming out on top was Patricia Griffith on the grey horse Vida Blue, owned by Laura King-Kaplan. In the reserve champion spot was Tina Judge and Trust Me, owned by Shannon Kelly of Naperville, IL.
Tomorrow will begin with the always competitive Small and Large Junior Hunters at the Wachovia Showplace Spring Spectacular II. Following the Junior Hunters will be the $1,000 Junior Hunter Classic, sponsored by Meadowview Farm/Tammy Provost. For more horse show information and full results, please visit
