Invasor Wins $6 Million Dubai Gold Cup

The reigning Horse of The Year, Invasor, proved his supremacy once again by winning the richest horse race in the world, the $6 million Emirates Dubai Gold Cup on March 31, 2007 in Nad Al Sheba. Owner, Shaikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, was presented with the trophy by his brother, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The Candy Stripes colt, Invasor, ridden by 19-year-old Panamanian jockey Fernando Jara, for their fifth partnership victory, beat Premium Tap by 1¾ lengths in the 12th running of this classic race. Invasor’s time of 1.59.57 is the second best time for the race.
