Jackie Bialo’s Impressive Intercollegiate Background Adds a Youthful Dimension to PhelpsSports.Com
Equestrian News Release
Wellington, FL – May 17, 2006 - As PhelpsSports.com will be dedicated to delivering the widest range of equestrian news to the masses, our team would not be complete without a focus on youth, and especially the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). We are therefore delighted to welcome former intercollegiate competitor Jackie Bialo, from Boston, MA, to PhelpsSports.com.
An accomplished rider with a 15-year amateur career under her girth, Jackie has been a regular participant and winner at an assortment of events and shows in the New England area, including the Marshall and Sterling/Charles Owen finals in summer/fall 2005.
During her college years, Jackie was a keen member of Brown University’s equestrian team. “I rode in the IHSA for four years” she said, “and even had the opportunity to ride in the 2003 NCAA Varsity Equestrian Championships in College Station, Texas. What I loved about the IHSA is that it made riding, an essentially individual sport, into a team sport. I loved being on teams growing up,” Jackie recalled. “Whether it was playing travel soccer or lacrosse, the team was what made the experience. The words of encouragement from teammates before entering the ring, having your friends ringside to support and cheer for you truly made the intercollegiate riding experience unique.”
Harmonizing this unique experience with her life-long passion for horses gives Jackie a special perspective that she will bring to PhelpsSports.com. “I hope my column will enlighten all those who are unfamiliar with intercollegiate riding. Reading about the experiences of college riders may encourage a junior rider to joint a particular school because of their riding program. Or …” unleashing her enthusiasm, Jackie continued, “maybe my column will inspire a rider to start a new program at their own college. My column will certainly make the competitive world of collegiate riding available for everyone in the sport to enjoy.”
“It’s this type of zeal for the equestrian world that binds the whole PhelpsSports.com team,” said Executive Editor Jean Llewellyn. “As we continue to recruit freelance contributors from all walks of equestrian life, it guarantees that we’ll be able to offer the most comprehensive news gathering service this industry has ever known. Novice or veteran, young or old, armchair follower or international rider, there will be news and columns that will inspire everyone.”
For Jackie Bialo, “I am so excited to be part of PhelpsSports.com. The information they plan to provide will enable riders to track their favorite professional in the same way as a fan would go to MLB.com or NFL.com to follow their beloved team.” She continued, “In the same way that Horsepower on Animal Planet has helped the mainstream population understand horses, PhelpsSports.com will provide greater access to the equestrian world for those outside the sport, as well as providing a wealth of useful information to dedicated horse fans.”
