Janet Hischer and Vlamenco win the $25,000 Strongid® C 2X™Grand Prix at HITS Arizona

TUCSON, AZ (March 17, 2008)--Janet Hischer took advantage of having two rides in the jump-off during Sunday's $25,000 Strongid® C 2X™ Grand Prix at HITS Arizona to score the top prize in the final Grand Prix of the 2008 HITS Arizona Winter Circuit.

Hischer and her mount Vlamenco got the best of 24 pairs in the first round and seven combinations in the jump-off to score $7,500 in prize money. She was also fifth aboard Okie Dokie."Vlemenco is huge. He is 17.2 hands," said Hischer. "He is normally not a ride for ladies but I work hard and we have a great relationship together."

"I was very fortunate to have two horses in the jump-off," said Hischer. "I was first to go aboard Vlamenco and was trying to be fast, but not too fast. I knew I had another round aboard Okie Dokie near the end of the jump-off and that horse is a real speedy."

Hischer and Vlamenco went clear on the first trip of the jump-off stopping the clocks in 50.227. Second in the order were Bob Brawley and his mount Cosmo. The pair had an unlucky rail down midway through the course and finished in fourth place.

Third to go were Natasha Merback and Van Schuindel's Cindy. The combination had four faults and finished in third place.

Fourth in the order were Justin Resnik and his mount Copius. The pair navigated the course clean and stopped the clocks in 53.222 to secure second place and $5,500 in prize money.

Becky Cox and Daylight 99 were in the five spot and had eight faults to finish in sixth place. Next, Hischer was back for her second trip of the jump-off aboard Okie Dokie and had a rail down to finish in fifth place.

Entering the ring in the envious last-to-go spot were JJ Atkison and her mount Rambo. The pair won the $25,000 Central Equine Grand Prix last Sunday but 22 faults on Sunday placed the pair in sixth place.

"I am glad I could close out the circuit with a win," said Hischer. "The weather yesterday during the Grand Prix was super. HITS Arizona provides a little something for everyone and I am excited to be a part of it."

The six-week event has been a staple of West Coast circuits for many years. HITS took over production of the circuit in 1991. The HITS Arizona Winter Circuit offers a full range of competition classes for beginners to advanced riders. Exhibitors gain valuable experience in the show ring under the eye of some of the country's top judges.

HITS, Inc. is a special events management company primarily focused on producing hunter/jumper horse shows. Based in upstate New York in the village of Saugerties, HITS produced its first horse show circuit in Gainesville, Florida in 1982. Since that time, HITS has grown into a nationwide company with world-class hunter/jumper circuits in California, Florida, Arizona, New York and Virginia.
