Jennifer Alfano of SBS Farms Inc. Named Leading Hunter Rider at 125th National Horse Show

Syracuse, NY - November 4, 2008 - At last week's Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament featuring the 125th National Horse Show, SBS Farms Inc. had a spectacular competition. Jennifer Alfano of Buffalo, NY, was named the Leading Hunter Rider at the show after she won three tricolor ribbons in the professional hunter divisions. SBS Farms Inc. head trainer is Susie Schoellkopf.

One of her big winners was Sting, owned by Helen Lenahan. In the Regular Conformation division, Sting won his first over fences class and was awarded the "Yvonne Schultess Memorial Challenge Trophy." Sting was fourth in the model and fifth in the under saddle. Sting returned to the ring to victory, winning the next over fences class and the final stake class. For their incredible performance, Sting and Alfano won the championship in the division and won the German Challenge Trophy.

Sting also competed in the Green Conformation Hunters, where he was second and third over fences and second in the stake class. What made the wins even more special was having Sting's owner, Helen Lenahan, there to see her horse compete.

"This is only our second time doing the four-foot height. He was great, and I was really proud of him," said Alfano. "Helen was here to watch him, and I don't think she has ever seen him go before. I think it worked out perfectly."

On Jersey Boy, owned by SBS Farms Inc., Alfano picked up her other two tricolors. In the Green Working Hunters, Jersey Boy was first and third over fences for the reserve champion. Jersey Boy was also victorious in the Regular Working Hunters. They were second in two over fences classes and fifth in the under saddle. Their win in the final stake class gave them the "S. Craig Lindner Family Challenge Trophy" and the reserve championship in the division.

Alfano also rode The Specialist for Meredith Lipke Bartolone to ribbons, including a second place, in the Green Working Hunters. For her great wins, Alfano was given the Leading Hunter Rider Challenge Trophy.

"It is huge to win at The National Horse Show," said Alfano. "The last time I showed at this show was when it was still at Madison Square Garden, and GG Valentine was champion. It was really special to do it again."

Meredith Lipke Bartolone of Buffalo, NY, was another successful rider last week out of SBS Farms. She rode Once and Again to the reserve championship in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters. The pair were second and third over fences, and they took first place in the prestigious stake class.

Schoellkopf noted, "We had a great week, and it was a fabulous show. Hats off to John Madden and everyone at the National Horse Show; it couldn't have been nicer. It had a great feeling and atmosphere, the decorations were great, and the jumps were beautiful. I can't say enough about the show. It's a great start for the National Horse Show in Syracuse."

"We really had a great indoors," Schoellkopf continued. "Meredith was outstanding. Even though Jen's great horse Rock Star couldn't show, the other horses pulled their weight. I was so proud of Jen to have this great group of horses. It was also a great team effort with all of our staff, the vets, everyone."

SBS Farms Inc. will now let their horses rest and then will prepare for the winter show season in January. Located at the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, the riders at SBS Farms are looking forward to the George Morris Clinic next week on November 7-9.
