Joe Putnam and Marc Bourdet Tie for High Score in Herd Work

The Penny Knight & Drag N Fly Ranch Bridle Spectacular held at the National Reined Cow Horse Association Stakes continued with the herd work of the Non Pro division March 27, at the Idaho Horse Park in Nampa, Idaho.

Eighteen of the world’s toughest Non Pros teamed up with their equally impressive horses to vie for a shot at the Championship and a check for $3,708.

Joe Putnam and Marc Bourdet tied for the high score and the lead with identical scores of 218.5. Putnam, of Burlingame, California, rode Blarneys Award, while Bourdet, of Chiloquin, Oregon, rode ARC Tassa Me Please.

Blarneys Award is a 9-year-old chestnut stallion by SMF Lenas Award and out of Peppyment Gold, by Sanpeppy Smoke. He has lifetime earnings exceeding $20,000.

ARC Tassa Me Please, a 6-year-old sorrel gelding, is by Chic Please and out of Tassas Little Peppy, by Peppy San Badger. He has earned money not only in the NRCHA, but also at National Cutting Horse Association approved events.

The Penny Knight & Drag N Fly Ranch Bridle Spectacular Champions will be crowned Saturday evening, March 29, after the next two legs of competition – the rein and cow work.
