Josh Hattig & Samantha Griffin Tie for NRBC Non Pro Preliminaries

Samantha Griffin and Josh Hattig topped the 170-entry Non Pro Preliminaries at the 11th Annual National Reining Breeders Classic. Their identical scores of 222.5 earned each $6,461 and a berth in the clean-slate finals set for Friday.

Griffin was riding Kachina Oak Olena (Smart Chic Olena x Kachina Oak) owned by her father, Lance Griffin and Josh was aboard Dudes Whippersnapper (Steadys Dude X Miss San Snap), owned by his father, Brad Hattig.

The duo led 23 other Non Pros who scored 216.5 or better that will be competing in the Non Pro Finals on Friday.

In the Intermediate Non Pro, the magic number was 214.5 to earn a ticket to the finals dance. George Lawrence of Fort Worth, Texas, rode This Chicsdundreamin (Magnum Chic Dream x Hermosa Dun It) to a score of 221.5 to win the first round of the Intermediate Non Pro and Limited Non Pro and earn $1,346 and $728, respectively.

Just behind in the Intermediate Non Pro with a 221 score was Francesca Sternberg of Pilot Point, Texas on Hollywood Dun Star (Hollywood Eighty Six x Commercially Dun). The Co-Reserve winners in the Limited Non Pro with scores of 216 were Lindy Longfellow on SLJ Sweet N Juicy (Smart Like Juice x Jacks My Sugar Daddy) and Nick Wallis on Smart Smokin Chic (Smokin Chic Olena x Bar S Docs Gay Bar). It took a 211 score in the Limited Non Pro to come back for the finals.

In the Prime Time Non Pro, Nancy Flathers led the field on Smart Coco Chic (Chocolate Chic Olena x Star Dust Dun It) with a score of 222, with Lindy Longfellow just behind on SLJ Sweet N Juicy with a score of 219. (Prime time scores are handicapped.) It took a 211.5 to come back to the Prime Time Non Pro Finals.

In the Limited Non Pro I NRHA class held in the East Arena, the winner was Lauren Hall on Holymasterwhiz with a score of 142.5. Lauren takes a big step toward winning the NRBC Gist buckle that will be given for the high point from the two NRHA Limited Non Pro classes.
