JT Farm's Ellen Toon and Invincible Win Grand Amateur Championship at Capital Challenge Horse Show

Upper Marlboro, MD - October 7, 2008 - JT Farm attended the Capital Challenge Horse Show last week and were very successful. Ellen Toon and her horse Invincible finished as the Grand Amateur Hunter Champions, Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunter champions, and Toon was named Best Amateur Hunter Rider.

JT Farm is based in South Salem, NY, and Wellington, FL, and led by trainer Jimmy Toon.

Toon and Invincible competed in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunter division. On the first day, they scored a 91 and a 93 from the judges to win the second over fences class. The score of 93 is the highest that Invincible has ever received.

On the second day of competition, Toon and Invincible won both over fences classes and all of their scores were 90 or above. Toon and Invincible were awarded the division championship and due to their high point total, they were also named Grand Amateur Hunter Champions. They won the EMO Trip of the Show for amateur riders, and Toon was named Best Amateur Rider. Through her great performance at Capital Challenge, Toon also finished as the World Champion Hunter Rider National Reserve Champion in the amateur division.

"I think coming inside for the first time this year, he was a little impressed with everything," Toon mentioned. "He jumped fantastic." Toon has owned Invincible for two years. Toon described Invincible as "easy to ride." She added, "He's a quiet horse. He's fearless. He does not get nervous about anything. I think that's why his rhythm is so good because he's not worried."

Winning at Capital Challenge was a big accomplishment for Toon. She said, "I get chills just thinking about it. I know my horse can do it, and he certainly has won a lot. But he was just spectacular here. It was the best he's gone with me. He just tried and tried and tried. It was a very tough division, and there were some very, very nice horses."

The other championship for JT Farm came in the Children's Pony Hunters. Brianne Link of East Islip, NY, continued her year-long winning streak by taking the championship on Asgard Mercury. This was her first time at Capital Challenge, and the pair finished first and third over fences for the win.

"It feels really good to be champion here," Link said. "It was really close, and it was tough." Link has been riding Asgard Mercury for two and a half years and said this was one of the biggest things she has won on him.

Dudley MacFarlane of Darien, CT, also competed at Capital Challenge in the Adult Amateur 51 & Over Hunters. She rode Authentic to third and sixth place ribbons and All the Stars to an eighth place in the competitive division.

JT Farm will compete next at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show on October 9-18, 2008.
