Nation's Best Jumper Riders Ready to Rumble at 124th National Horse Show and Family Festival

$155,000 in Prize Money at Stake as Open Jumpers Take Center Stage

Wellington, FL - December 3, 2007 - The 124th National Horse Show and Family Festival is set to get underway on Wednesday, and will continue with four rings of equestrian excitement through Sunday December 9th at the Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington, Florida. In its seventh year, the show will feature a battle among the nation's best open jumper riders, competing for $155,000 in prize money in the International Jumper division.

The jumpers will be featured daily in the Internationale Arena.

The $5,000 Palm Beach Post National Welcome Stake, CSI, gets the action started on Wednesday, December 5th at 3 p.m. On Thursday, it's the $15,000 NHS Speed Classic, CSI, also scheduled for a 3 p.m. lift-off. Belgium's Eric Flameng and Mazelle stormed to victory last year in the Wednesday opener, while Margie Engle aboard Hidden Creek's Wapino won the Speed Classic, the first of her three major wins at last year's show.

On Friday, as part of the always popular, "Jumping Under the Stars Gala," the $25,000 NHS Jumper Classic for the Rolex/USEF National Show Jumping Championship, presented by Equine Motorcoach, will be the highlighted event. This class is the first of two phases that comprise the championship. Phase two is on Sunday afternoon and offers $100,000 in prize money. The "National Show Jumping Champion" will be decided by points and multipliers from the two classes. Riders must be entered in both phases in order to be eligible for the championship. Last year, Eric Flameng won his second class at the National, capturing the Friday night event on Roxanne.

On Saturday afternoon, the $10,000 NHS Speed Stake, CSI, will have the top riders going head to head in an exciting afternoon dash for the cash. Margie Engle raced home to victory last year in this class with Hidden Creek's Calippo.

The battle for the big money, the overall championship, and valuable World Cup points will take place on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The $100,000 NHS Grand Prix FEI World Cup(TM) for the Rolex/USEF National Show Jumping Championship, presented by Equine Motorcoach, will bring the 2007 National Horse Show to a close. On Sunday afternoon last year, Margie Engle and Hidden Creek's Wapino won their second major event of the week, topping McLain Ward and Sapphire for the main event win.

Ward though, with two second places finishes in the Rolex/USEF National Show Jumping Championship, was crowned the overall champion for 2006. Engle took home the prestigious trophy for Leading International Rider and Hidden Creek Farm was honored with the Leading International Horse trophy for Hidden Creek's Wapino.

Ward, Engle, and Flameng are all set to revisit their battle of last year. This trio tops the stellar list of entries expected to compete at the 2007 National Horse Show and Family Festival. Also this year, Ward comes into the National Horse Show with 2007 AGA Rider of the Year honors sewn up, his fourth such title.

Sure to be a factor this year will be Kent Farrington, who arrives at the National Horse Show following one of the most successful seasons in the history of American show jumping. His seventeen major grand prix victories this year ranks among the very best of all time. Farrington also leads the race for a spot at this year's World Cup Finals to be held in Gothenberg, Sweden, in April.

Mario Deslauriers, one of Canada's finest equestrians, will also be making the trip to Wellington for this year's National.

Ward, a member of the 2004 United States team that won the Gold Medal at the Athens Olympic Games, and Engle, a member of the 2000 United States Olympic team at Sydney, Australia, will be joined by fellow Olympians Lauren Hough, Todd Minikus, and Nona Garson.

Also competing are Hillary Dobbs, Eliza Shuford, Georgina Bloomberg, Ken Berkley, Charlie Jayne, Katherine Miracle, and Lisa Silverman. All seven of these riders made international appearances for the United States Equestrian team over the course of the past season. Shuford, Miracle, and Bloomberg teamed up for two key FEI Nations Cup wins in Scandinavia this summer, while Berkley, Bloomberg, and Silverman were part of the Samsung Super League tour. Jayne and Dobbs have just returned following a Gold Medal performance in the Nations Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In addition, Hillary Dobbs won the Leading Open Jumper Rider title at this year's Washington International Horse Show.

Rounding out the roster at this year's National Horse Show are Debbie Stephens, Jimmy and Danielle Torano, Kimberly Prince, Judy Garofalo Torres, Darragh Kerins, Michael Morrissey, Nicole Simpson, Ali Wolff, Robin Sweely, Darrin Dlin, Eduardo Salas Herrera, Shane Sweetnam, Ian Silitch, and Tim Hooker.
