'Jungle Safari' Live Auction Items to Offer One-of-a-Kind Experiences

Wellington, FL - February 4, 2008 - The "Jungle Safari" benefit for the Diabetes Research Institute will give guests one of the most entertaining and spectacular gala experiences of the season on March 1 at the International Polo Club in Wellington, FL. In addition to the special "surprises from the jungle" that attendees can expect, there will also be a varied assortment of incredible live auction items on which to bid.

One of the most anticipated items will be an African Safari for four travelers. Guests at the "Jungle Safari" event will get a sneak peek of what the winners of this auction item will get to experience firsthand during their African Safari Adventure.

Another item up for bid will be a trip for two to Tuscany, Italy. This vacation will whisk two travelers away to the beautiful region known for its wine, culture and exquisite scenery. The historical city of Florence, renowned for its museums and vast art history, is the capital of Tuscany.

Guests will also be able to bid on a wonderful dinner party for eight in the winner's home, expertly prepared and served by Aaron's Catering of Wellington. The package includes delectable appetizers, dinner, wine, dessert and coffee.

A custom closet from Closet Tailors of Palm Beach will also be offered for bidding and is valued at $6,000. A beautiful fit-to-order closet can be a dream-come-true when it comes to organizing your belongings, as the designs maximize space and ease of use.

For those looking for a bit of local fun and excitement, a "Sheriff for a Day" package will be up for bidding. The winner and up to three guests will have the opportunity to be "Sheriff for the Day." The package includes an exciting ride in the Sheriff's Department's Jet Copter, a tour of the Emergency Operations Center, and a firsthand experience of the ins and outs of law enforcement.

Another item will be a purebred puppy donated by Palm Beach Puppies, located at The Pointe at Wellington Green. While the breed is a surprise, the puppy - who will be in attendance at the fundraiser - will be about eight weeks old and ready to go home with his or her new family.

Seating at "Jungle Safari" is limited. A sellout is assured, as the event is just three weeks away and only eight tables remain available.

The event will benefit the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and will be held on March 1, 2008, at the International Polo Club Palm Beach in Wellington, FL. Wellington residents Ashley and Joe Maguire are again the event's chairmen, and they are being assisted with the planning for the event by a committee consisting of many high profile members of the local community.

The Diabetes Research Institute, a center of excellence at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is a recognized world leader in cure-focused research. Since its inception in the early 1970s, the DRI has made significant contributions to the field of diabetes research, pioneering many of the techniques used in islet transplantation. From innovations in islet isolation and transplant procedures to advances in cell biology and immunology, the DRI is now harnessing the power of emerging technologies to develop new cell-based therapies to restore insulin production. For the millions of families already affected by diabetes who are looking to the world of science for answers, the Diabetes Research Institute is the best hope for a cure.
