Juniors Across the Country Team Up for the EQUUS Deal or No Deal Syracuse Halloween Event

WESTPORT, CT - October 11, 2008 -Exhibitors from all around the country are preparing for the upcoming Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament featuring the National Horse Show. Although the competition will be especially intense for the juniors competing for the coveted Maclay, many will be taking a short time out to help raise funds for The EQUUS Foundation, Inc.

The EQUUS Foundation is holding its "Deal or No Deal" event at the Syracuse show on Halloween, Friday, October 31, 2008 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Oncenter Ballroom. Hosted by Bates Saddles, the event will feature junior riders as the Deal or No Deal Suitcase Models.

The Bates Equitation Meeting for the Maclay, originally scheduled for 5:30 pm, will now be held at 11:00 a.m. that morning, allowing the juniors and their families, and the other exhibitors showing during the week, to take a break from the competition to enjoy a reception, dinner, and the entertaining take-off on the well-known TV show featuring emcee Mason Phelps, Jr., National Horse Show Chairman. The contestants will be chosen from among the audience so everyone has a chance to win the grand prize of $5,000, or make a deal for great prizes.

The juniors signed on as models so far include Carly Anthony, Alexandra Arute, Anna Becker, Sophie Benjamin, Alexandra Biederman, Victoria Birdsall, Kels Bonham, Tilden Brighton, Olivia Clancy, Navona Gallegos, Carolyn Curcio, Annie Davidson, Tina Dilandri, Christy DiStefano, Olivia Dorey, Brian Feigus, Emily Gardner, Christina Gellos, Zazou Hoffman, Michael Hughes, Johanna Hyyppa, Olivia Jack, Reed Kessler, Laura King-Kaplan, Christina Lin, Emma Lipman, Jacqueline Lubrano, Kimberly McCormack, Matthew Metell, Michelle Morris, Chelsea Moss, Catherine Pasmore, Nina Pola, Karen Polle, Schaefer Raposa, Julie Richardson, Grace Rogers, Rachel Roter, Samantha Schaefer, Jessica Springsteen, Katherine Stewart, Rachel Udelson, Lauren Vogel, Shelby Wakeman, and Kyle Wolf. The deadline for advance reservations is Friday, October 24, 2008. Suitcase Sponsorships (Tables of six) are $1,000; Individual seats purchased in advance are $100 per adult; $50 per child 12 and under. Limited seating may be available at the show at $125 for individual seats and $75 for children 12 and under. Donations for event attendance are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

The EQUUS Foundation sponsors entertaining events each year to give something back to donors who give so generously. The EQUUS Foundation, Inc. recently announced the award of over $300,000 to 50 charities involved in equestrian and equine activities, bringing the total awards to $1.1 million since 2003. The awards were made possible almost entirely from event contributors.

The Board includes: Jenny Belknap, Chairman, Catherine Herman, Vice Chairman, David T.
