Alfano and Rock Star Are Champions Once Again in Professional Hunters at HITS Ocala

Alfano and Rock Star Are Champions Once Again in Professional Hunters at HITS Ocala
Kacey McCann of SBS Farms Sweeps Older Junior Hunter Championships at HITS Ocala Winter Festival

Ocala, FL – February 27, 2007 – At last week’s HITS Ocala Winter Festival, Kacey McCann of Palmyra, PA, kept doing what she does best – winning. The 16-year-old rider won three championship tricolors and won in the equitation ring. Trainer and rider Jennifer Alfano of SBS Farms piloted Rock Star to another two championships this week as well.

Alfano and Rock Star, who is owned by Bright Star 158 LLC, were unbeatable in the jumping classes of two divisions this past week in Ocala. Rock Star won all four over fences classes in both the Second Year Green and Regular Working Hunter divisions. This gave them the championship in both divisions.

On Mustique, owned by SBS Farms and Don Stewart Jr., McCann won three classes in the Small Junior 16-17 Hunters, which led to the highest tricolor awarded.

McCann swept the Large Junior 16-17 Hunter division. She was champion on Eastwood, owned by Hasbrouck Donovan and Don Stewart Jr. Eastwood won two classes in the division and the Large Junior Hunter Classic. Eastwood, formerly known as Mosquito Mound’s Thunder, was the Large Junior 16-17 Hunter circuit champion at the Jacksonville Winter Series and is continuing his successful winter in Ocala.

The reserve champion of the Large Junior 16-17 Hunter division was Chloe Z, owned by Caroline Weingart. Chloe Z and McCann were first, second and third over fences.

In addition to the hunters, McCann was successful in the equitation ring. On Apollo, owned by Don Stewart Jr., she was first and third over fences in the Equitation 16-17 division for the reserve championship. She also rode to second place in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search class. McCann rode Apollo in the 2006 Washington International Horse Show Equitation Finals and this was the veteran’s first show of 2007. "He feels great," McCann remarked. "He’s one of those horses that’s been around the block and is so smart. I just leave him alone and let him find his way around the course and it works."

Riding under the SBS Farms banner was Meredith Lipke Bartolone. She and Churchill won the under saddle and two over fences classes in the Adult Equitation 36-45 division for the championship.

The SBS Farm team will show next at the HITS Ocala Masters on February 28-March 4, 2007.
