Karen Healey Stables Takes Five Spots at 2007 Platinum Performance

Burbank, CA - September 29, 2007 - The riders from Karen Healey Stables made an impressive statement this past weekend at the Los Angeles International Jumping Festival. They took five of the top ten spots in the 2007 Platinum Performance USEF West Coast Show Jumping Talent Search Finals.

Tina DiLandri of La Jolla, CA, was second, while Allison LaJoie of Coto de Caza was third. Fourth place went to Michelle Morris of La Canada, CA, and Carly Anthony of Redmond, WA, was fifth. Shelby Wakeman of Westlake Village, CA, was eighth.

The Talent Search Finals consist of four phases of competition that are held over three days. They include: a flat phase, gymnastic phase, jumping phase, and jump-off between the top four riders. In the jump-off, the top four riders must switch horses and ride each of the other three over a shortened jumping course.

"We were so lucky to have George Morris and Jeffrey Welles there judging," said Healey. "They did a fabulous job. Between the all of the rain and the natural obstacles, it took a toll on the riders. The gymnastic made sense; there was nothing trappy, and there were no tricks. The time allowed was a factor though. You had to be within it to be a contender. You could follow the judges' decisions all the way through. The results were great, and all of the riders rode wonderfully."

In the USEF Adult Medal Zone 8, 9, and 10 Finals, Elizabeth Dickinson of Los Angeles took first place. She rode The Graduate to the win in the first round and fifth in the second round for the overall victory over 31 other entries. Yvette Lang-Einczig was ninth. Dickinson finished second in the CPHA Amateur Medal class on Victor, and she was third in the Low Junior/Amateur Jumpers on Dimenos 3. Einczig won the USEF Senior Medal class.

Karen Healey Stables was solid in the jumper divisions at the LA International Jumping Festival. Assistant trainer Kasey Ament finished second in the $1,000 Open Speed Stake class on Fred Bauer's Roma-M. She was third in the same class on Castana 4, who is owned by Bar X Ranch. Owner Carol Bird rode Castana 4 to third place in the 1.30m Jumpers. Ament was second in the 1.30m Jumpers on Mambo and was third and fourth in the same division on W.C. Swing. Both horses are owned by Bird.

Tina Dilandri of La Jolla, CA, rode Chanel 292 to second place in the High Junior Jumpers. Lindsay Ramar and Puma won a High Amateur Jumper class. Katie Gardner and Action G were second and fourth in the division, while Lauren Kay and Chip Chap were fifth.

Karen Healey and some of her students are currently showing at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, MD.
