Karen Healey Stables Wins at Three Winter Circuits Across the Country

Westlake Village, CA - February 21, 2008 - Karen Healey Stables had students competing at three winter show circuits last week, and all of them came away with victory. Karen Healey Stables is based in Westlake Village, CA.

At the CN Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL, Tina DiLandri of La Jolla, CA, was victorious in some of the most competitive equitation classes in the country. She and her mount RSVP won the USET Show Jumping Talent Search class as well as the ASPCA Maclay Class. They finished fifth overall in the WIHS Equitation class.

This year was DiLandri's first time showing at WEF, and she loved the experience. She trained with Olympic gold medalist Chris Kappler, who "gets a lot of credit with my jumper," she said. "I think we put the puzzle together."

For her equitation horse RSVP, the change of scenery was good for the young horse. "He adapted really well," she noted.

DiLandri said that competing in the equitation classes at WEF was very challenging. "The competition is solid, but I think it makes you rise to the occasion. The courses were great every week; they were right on the money. The flat phases in the Talent Search and the Maclay classes were some of the hardest things I've ever done. That's something that I think we could improve on the West Coast. Our courses should be tougher, and we should have harder flat phases. I'm excited to bring what I learned here and apply it at home," she said.

She added, "I'm excited to go back to Thermal. I missed Karen and everyone at Karen Healey Stables."

Shelby Wakeman of Westlake Village, CA, piloted Cello for owner Tammy Williams to the reserve championship in the Large Junior 16-17 Hunters at WEF. They were first, second, fourth, and sixth over fences and third under saddle for the tricolor.

At the HITS Arizona Circuit, Tammy Chipko of Westlake Village took first place in the High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic on her horse Lottie, an 11-year-old Irish mare. Chipko was second on Lucky Star 58.

On her top hunter All That, Chipko was reserve champion in the Amateur-Owner Over 35 Hunters. They were first, second, and second over fences. She won the handy hunter class on her horse Amnesty.

At the Gold Coast Series Horse Show '1', Michelle Morris of La Canada, CA, won the Equitation 15-17 on the flat and the ASPCA Maclay class. She finished second in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search and the USEF Medal class. She was third in the WCE Junior/Amateur Medal.

Haley Harrison, also of La Canada, took first place in the L.A. Junior Medal class. She finished third in the PCHA Medal and the Rosewood Medal class and was fourth in the THIS Children's Medal class.

Karen Healey Stables will compete next at the HITS Desert Circuit in Thermal, CA, on Feb. 19-24, 2008.
