Karen Healey Stables Takes Two Spots in Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals West

Burbank, CA - September 24, 2008 - Karen Healey Stables competed at the L.A. International Horse Show last week and finished with very good results. Hannah Selleck of Thousand Oaks, CA, won the 2008 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals West and Michelle Morris of La Canada, CA, placed fourth.

Selleck started out the finals with a bang when she won the flat phase with a score of 93. She improved even more in the gymnastics phase, where she received a career high score of 97. "It was hard being on top because it's more pressure and you're the last person in the ring," Selleck said. "The jumper course went well. I was deep to one line, but I was still in the top four where we come back and switch horses."

The final phase "went really well," Selleck mentioned. "I've done it twice before so it was nice having that experience. I really thought about riding forward and being accurate on each of the horses and being aware of the time allowed. There was a really great group of horses in the final four."

Also in the top four was Michelle Morris, who competed on Lichtenstein 7. She finished in fourth place and was also fourth in the USEF Zone 8, 9, 10 Hunter Seat Medal Regional.

Selleck rode W.C. Swing in the finals, a horse owned by Carol Bird, who shows him in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumpers. Selleck first competed with W.C. Swing just a week earlier. "It was his first show really doing the equitation. He was amazing, and I love him. His lateral work is great, and he's been taught really well," Selleck remarked. W. C. Swing was named the Best Horse of the competition.

This is Selleck's third top four finish in the six years that she has competed at the finals. She finished second in 2005, so taking first place this year was a big accomplishment for the talented rider who won double gold medals at this year's North American Junior Young Rider Championships. "It's been a goal of mine since I was little," she said of her victory. "I watched and saw how difficult the class was and always thought it would be really neat to win it. As I got better with my riding, it became something that maybe I could actually do. It's really a great honor and is something I've always wanted to win. That makes it really special."

The winner of the USEF Zone 8, 9, 10 Hunter Seat Medal Regional was Tina DiLandri on RSVP. DiLandri won both rounds for victory. Samantha Harrison finished sixth, and Kylee Arbuckle was ninth. DiLandri also won both phases and overall in the WIHS Equitation class, while Hannah Bibb finished second in the jumper phase. Bibb was second in the Equitation 16-17 on the flat and fourth over fences. Haley Harrison took third place in the Equitation 12-13 over fences class. Elizabeth Dickinson won the CPHA Adult Medal.

In the USEF Zone 8, 9, 10 Adult Equitation Regional, Lauren Hester of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, came out with first place after winning the second round. Selleck finished fifth after she won the first round.

Samantha Harrison took home the top prize in the $5,000 High Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic for the third week in a row on Santika. Jocelyn Neff and Golden Flip finished third in the $2,500 Low Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic.

Assistant trainer Kasey Ament rode Sjapoo to first place in the 1.20m Jumpers, and the horse competed with owner Juliana Ball in the Modified Junior/Amateur Jumpers, picking up third and fifth place ribbons.

Robin Bulla won in the Low Children's/Adult Jumpers and finished second in the division classic.

Karen Healey Stables will compete on both coasts this week, with riders at the Flintridge Horse Show in California and at equitation weekend at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Maryland.
