Karen Healey Stables Wins Two Equitation Divisions at Capital Challenge and Earns Top Placings at Flintridge Autumn Classic

Upper Marlboro, MD- October 3- Karen Healey Stables spanned the continent today as riders won in equitation classes at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland on October 1-2 and at the Flintridge Autumn Classic in Flintridge, California on September 30- October 2, 2005.
The most successful rider was Lauren Hester of Rancho Santa Fe, California. The 17 year old rode Donna French’s Timeless to the championship in the 17 year old equitation division. Hester was fourth in one over fences class and won the other jumping class. She finished second in the under saddle class.
Hester also competed in the Monarch International/Show Circuit Magazine Flat Equitation Championship and finished in seventh place. She went on to compete in the largest equitation class of the weekend, the Monarch International North American Equitation Championship, where she finished seventh out of 104 competitors.
Also showing in the 17 Year Old Equitation division was Rebecca Bruce. She rode Fontina, owned by David Josiah, to a tie for the reserve championship. Bruce rides with trainer Mary Gatti and received help from Karen Healey for the weekend. Bruce won the 17 Year Old Equitation under saddle and finished fifth and sixth over fences.
Another championship went to Karen Healey Stables when Torie Immel of Newport Beach, California won the 15 Year Old Equitation division. She rode her own Ambassador to a win and fifth place over fences and fourth place in the under saddle class.
Reserve champion in the 15 Year Old division also goes back to California. Veronica Tracy of San Juan Capistrano and her horse Axel were first in the under saddle and fourth over fences to capture the reserve tricolor.
While Karen Healey Stables was winning championships in Maryland, another group of riders competed on the West Coast at the Flintridge Autumn Classic. Donna French rode Gloria Sheller’s Lavall to the reserve championship in the PCHA Adult Medal Finals. It was a great weekend for French, as she also won the LA Senior Medal and was third in the Foxfield Medal.
Kristi Siam of Chatsworth, California, another top amateur rider from Karen Healey Stables, rode Nina Holt’s Ladylike to third place in the PCHA Adult Finals. Siam was also third in the Equitation 36-49 over fences class and fourth in the USEF Adult Medal.
Tiffany Weeda of San Juan Capistrano, California was the successful junior rider of the weekend. She won the Equitation 14-17 under saddle class.
Cross-country events continue next week as Karen Healey judges the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search East Coast Finals on October 8-9 in Gladstone, New Jersey, while her team in California goes to the Foxfield Medal Finals and Jumping Derby on October 8-9 in Westlake Village, CA.
