SHOWLIFE® Magazine to Feature Ki-Juan Minors the 2008 Equestrian Idol

Wellington, FL - February 12, 2008 – When Ki-Juan Minors wowed the judges and the energetic crowd of horse lovers on Saturday, Feb. 9, and walked away with the grand prize and the title of Equestrian Idol, SHOWLIFE® was there.

SHOWLIFE®, an all breed-all discipline publication, was an underwriting sponsor of the event in support of the EQUUS Foundation.

Like American Idol, Equestrian Idol sought to choose the best out of a number of young singing equestrians. To get the singing underway, Robert “Ryan Seacrest” Dover introduced 2007 "Equestrian Idol" winner Taylor Blauweiss. Judges were Mason "Simon Cowell" Phelps, Susie "Paula Abdul" Schoellkopf, Mark "Randy Jackson" Leone, and Celebrity Judge, George Morris. Later on in the night, a spot for an additional judge was auctioned off, and Olympic dressage rider Debbie McDonald was put in the hot seat as the guest judge.

Minors, competing against seven others, was vocally well above the best. His rendition of "Killing Me Softly" by The Fugees left the audience and judges stunned. SHOWLIFE® will be featuring Minors in its May/June issue.

Explains Nancy Madafferi, SHOWLIFE® publisher, “Time and time again, the equestrian community has come out in support of charitable causes. EQUUS’ stated purpose is ‘to raise public awareness of the value of the horse in society through education and the award of grants to charities that use the horse to benefit the public, promote the health and welfare of horses, and elevate the equestrian sport as a whole’. SHOWLIFE® is dedicated to that same end, and as such, will continue to promote equestrian sport in order to support the industry and spark interest and enthusiasm on the part of spectators, in an attempt to broaden the base of spectatorship in the non-horse community. The place of the horse in American society somehow got lost along the way, but now equus caballus is regaining that place and gaining the respect that is long overdue.”
