Krista Weisman & Chopard Win Amateur Owner 18-35 Division of $1,000 Stakes

WELLINGTON, Fla., Feb. 17--Krista Weisman and Chopard were grand champion in the Amateur Owner 18-35 division of the $1,000 Stakes at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center Sunday.

Weisman, 23, of Sherborn, Mass. her 13-year-old bay gelding, placed second in the first trip with a score of 83 and won the stakes class with the high score of 85. The pair ride with trainer Scott Stewart of Flemington, N.J. and have been competing together for five years.

"He is always perfect," Weisman said. "He has been so good all week staying consistently in the 80's. I really worked on getting better at keeping the gallop. Today he felt very smooth."

Second placein the stakes class was awarded to the seven-year-old chestnut gelding, Curious and Sara Willeman 26, of Gloucester, Mass. Sara rides with trainers Missy Clark of Warren, Vt. and Peter Wylde of Maastricht, Netherlands. The pair finished with the score of 84.

Reserve Champion went to Addison Phillips and her mount Mirasol.
