Kristi Locatelli Wins 2008 Snaffle Bit Futurity Non Pro Bridle Championship
Equestrian News Release
For the second year in a row, Kristi Locatelli on Imacockadoodledude, and Mike Miller riding Bucks Little Fever, went 1-2 in Non Pro competition at the Snaffle Bit Futurity. Last year, they topped the Non Pro Hackamore, and in 2008, returned to dominate the Non Pro Bridle.
Locatelli and Miller had identical total scores of 291.5 - but the
Boulder Creek, California native's cow work score of 146.5 prevailed. Along
with a $4,480 check, Locatelli collected a Bob's Custom Saddle, sponsored by
Target Constructors, a Gist Silversmiths Champion Buckle, sponsored by Pro
Management, a Cinch monogrammed vest from Wayne Hodges's 4-Star
Trailers/Outlaw Conversions, and Platinum Performance.
"He was good for me in the reining, and then he was really good down
the fence. He boxed really well, and the whole run was good," noted
Locatelli of her run.
Her family had bred Imacockadoodledude, and had planned to sell him
in the NRCHA Select 2-Year-Old Sale, but he was sifted. Brad Buttrey showed
him at the Snaffle Bit Futurity, but he tripped on his second stop in the
preliminaries.
But "Dude" still had a shot at big recognition as a Futurity horse -
at the National Reining Horse Association Futurity. "I thought he was such a
cool reiner, and I wanted to take him to Oklahoma City. We wound up winning
the Intermediate Non Pro, and were Reserve in the Non Pro," she noted.
And Dude, by Gallo Del Cielo and out of Taris Velvet, will soon be
showing at another prestigious event - the American Quarter Horse
Association World Championship Show in the reining.
Mike Miller, of Big Piney, Wyoming, rode his former NRCHA Derby
Champion Bucks Little Fever to the Non Pro Bridle Reserve Championship,
pocketing $3,680, and taking home a Cinch monogrammed vest from Wayne
Hodge's 4-Star Trailers/Outlaw Conversions and Platinum Performance. They
marked scores of 145.5 in the rein work, and 146 in the cow work. Bucks
Little Fever is by Playboys Buck Fever and out of Cashs Genie.
