Kylie Wright captures The SHALANNO Style of Riding Award Perpetual Trophy

Culpeper, VA (September 30, 2008)—HITS is pleased to announce that Kylie Wright was awarded the SHALANNO Style of Riding Award during the USGPL Finals at HITS Culpeper.

The SHALANNO Style of Riding Award is presented to the Junior Jumper rider who best exemplifies the American style of equitation as modeled by Olympic medalists Joe Fargis, Conrad Homfeld and George Morris. The award recipient must have the respectful, dignified, courteous and workmanlike manner of a true sportsman.

"Kylie is a lovely girl, and a beautiful rider," said HITS' Office Manager Kristen Vale. "She showed in Culpeper several times this summer, and really, the results say it all. She was so pleased to be taking home the trophy. I mean, she was grinning from ear to ear!"

"She is always very polite when she comes into the horse show office," added Vale. "She is a wonderful girl who takes great care of her horses."

Wright trains under the watchful eye of former SHALANNO Style of Riding Award winner Evan Coluccio who has turned into a fantastic Grand Prix rider to watch. In fact, Coluccio earned his way into the field for Sunday's $100,000 USGPL Invitational Grand Prix with a top placing in Friday's $25,000 Devoucoux Wild Card Grand Prix.

"She is one of the hardest working riders that I have seen," said Coluccio. "She has been riding with me for a little over a year and has made some extraordinary improvements. When she first came to the barn, she was just figuring things out. Now she is even competing in some Grand Prix classes. Her first one was in Culpeper in August and she jumped clean."

Wright is 16 and plans to start competing in Grand Prix classes on a consistent basis in 2009. "The sky is really the limit for her," added Coluccio. "She is a tremendous learner with a wonderful work ethic."

The presentation of the award took place in the majestic Grand Prix ring at HITS Culpeper prior to the Invitational that was captured by Canadian Olympian Jill Henselwood and her mount Special Ed. Other festivities during the USGPL Finals included the presentation of the Grand Circuit Champion Awards in 60 divisions.

The first Culpeper Horse and Colt Show was held at Monte Vista Park in 1897 and it continued for the next 54 years. In the 1980s, show jumping returned to Culpeper in a grand fashion with the opening of Commonwealth Park, one of the finest horse-sport facilities in the country. Some of the richest show jumping events in America have been held at Commonwealth Park, including the $200,000 U.S. Cup, the grand finale for the United States Grand Prix League in 1986. HITS purchased Commonwealth Park in 1997 and began restoring the grounds to its former glory. In 1998, HITS reintroduced the United States Grand Prix League, and has presented the USGPL Finals at Commonwealth Park ever since. Approximately $1 million in total prize money is offered at the six HITS Culpeper events.

HITS, Inc. is a special events management company primarily focused on producing hunter/jumper horse shows. Based in upstate New York in the village of Saugerties, HITS produced its first horse show circuit in Gainesville, Florida in 1982. Since that time, HITS has grown into a nationwide company with world-class hunter/jumper circuits in California, Florida, Arizona, New York and Virginia.
