A Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic Favorite, The Traditional Ladies Best Hat Contest

South Hamilton, MA – September 1, 2006 – Each year thousands of spectators descend upon the Coldwell Banker Previews Grand Prix Field to watch some of the country’s hottest horses and riders compete in the $75,000 Fidelity Investments Grand Prix. The show, which runs from September 6-10, features over $200,000 in prize money that is up for grabs over the course of the week.

Spectator’s fill the VIP tents that surround the field while dining on a four course lunch complete with bubbly champagne and tables adorned festively for this prestigious annual event.

The Ladies Best Hat Contest is a popular tradition, currently in its fifth year. Spectators are encouraged to come up with their most creative hat and wear it at the show. During the show, several judges identify the hats that will be entered to win numerous prizes. Last year this coveted title went to Mary Crane of Dedham, Massachusetts.

This year Kim Atkinson, Editor in Chief of BOSTON COMMON Magazine, will be the official judge to determine the winner.

“We are so excited about our involvement with The Fidelity Investments Jumper Classic,” said Atkinson. “I am personally honored to be chosen to be a part of this tradition and am anxiously anticipating the turnout of all the ladies involved in the hat contest. I know The Jumper Classic is a very well received event and this the first year that BOSTON COMMON has been involved as a sponsor. We believe it will be a mutually beneficial partnership,” she added.

The 17th Annual Jumper Classic has been in partnership with Fidelity Investments as their Title Sponsor for the past six years. Over 10,000 spectators attend the event to catch a glimpse of the action. As the only event of this caliber held in New England, The Jumper Classic has become a marquis event that spectators and competitor’s alike look forward to year after year.
