Le Canard Enchainé will host the 2009 HITS Saugerties High- Performance Riders' Dinner

SAUGERTIES, NY (May 5, 2009)—HITS is proud to announce that Le Canard Enchainé will host a fabulous High-Performance Riders' dinner and sponsor reception at its Uptown Kingston restaurant on Saturday evening, June 6.

Le Canard Enchainé Restaurant opened in 1995 and was immediately recognized not only as one of the best French restaurants in the region, but as one of the best restaurants regardless of genre. Owner/Head Chef, Jean-Jacques Carquillat acquired his culinary skills in France and has received countless accolades for his technique and food from renowned food critics including Zagat, The New York Times, Hudson Valley Magazine and The Wine Connoiseur Magazine. .

The by-invitation-only party will begin at 6 pm and will feature a variety of splendid foods, as well as an open bar. "It is only right to welcome the best show jumping riders and well regarded sponsors of HITS to the best restaurant in the Hudson Valley! Le Canard Enchainé is a perfect choice as a partner for this event. They have fantastic food, charming European space and are conveniently located near several of our hotel partners in Kingston, " said HITS' Account Executive for Corporate Sponsorship Lisa Engel.

"HITS is number one in the world when it comes to horse shows," said Carquillat. "When these top riders come to HITS this spring, we will be honored to host a party to welcome them to the Hudson Valley and celebrate another successful show season."

While the High-Performance Riders Dinner and Sponsor Reception is an invitation-only event, all exhibitors can get a taste of the fine food Le Canard Enchainé Restaurant has to offer during the annual Taste-of-HITS event that will take place on Saturday, May 30. Restaurants from the surrounding areas will be on-site throughout the afternoon, offering samples from their sumptuous and varied menus.

This year's HITS Saugerties Spring and Summer Series will offer even more for hunter and jumper competitors including increased prize money and special Classics.

For High Performance riders, more than $1 million in prize money will be handed out over the course of the spring and summer series in the Open Jumper division. There are four Open Jumper classes each week, including two grand prix classes. Junior and Amateur jumpers will see their divisions and Classics split each week with $5,000 awarded in the Low Classic and $10,000 in the High Classic weekly. The Children's and Adult jumpers will have a $10,000 Classic on weeks I and IV, as well as their regular Classics the other weeks.

There's something special for the hunters too, as the $10,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and the $5,000 Pony Commotion take place week VI. $50,000 in prize money will be awarded at the 2009 USEF Junior Hunter East Coast Championships on July 27, and equitation riders will have a chance to compete in the prestigious Hunterdon Cup on July 28. Children's and Adult hunters each will have an opportunity to sh ow in a special Classic as one of the feature classes of the evening schedule. Check the schedule for other special Classics featured each week on Friday and Saturday evenings.
