Leonberg Wins Grand Prix & GP Freestyle at Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge I

Albuquerque, NM - Horses Unlimited's RPSI stallion Leonberg started the New Year off right with two victories in the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge I. The stallion won both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle with rider Mikala Gundersen in the saddle. The pair has solidified their partnership with good ribbons at Dressage at Devon last fall as well as several victories in Florida in 2008. Leonberg is one of nine top European-bred stallions standing at Horses Unlimited, one of the premier sport horse breeding and training facilities in North America.

"We are very proud of Leonberg," says Anne Sparks, CEO of Horses Unlimited. "He's always been an athlete, but he has become really consistent over the last year. It's exciting to watch him develop as Mikala has carefully brought him along." The duo has been invited to compete later this month in the Exquis World Dressage Masters that features $140,000 in prize money and some of the world's top riders, including Anky van Grunsven and Edward Gal. "It's an honor to be invited," explains Gundersen.

This association with the world's top sport horses led Sparks to the decision to spend the latter part of 2008 refining the farm's branding to better reflect the quality of horses it breeds and sells. While staying true to its hospitable, friendly southwestern roots, the new image also captures the quality European-bred sporthorses that are among the best in the world.

"Our new branding, which includes a new website and advertising campaign, promotes our mission to produce modern sport horses with great temperaments, athletic ability, superior movement and jumping ability," said Sparks. "We offer our clients exceptional and successful stallion selections and broodmare services, as well as a wide selection of horses of all ages for sale, and we're excited to launch our new website and marketing campaign to highlight each horse's incredible qualities."

Horses Unlimited stands stallions that have won National Championships, competed at the Olympic Games, World Equestrian Games, World Cup Finals, Pan American Games, won numerous European Grand Prix titles, USDF Horse of the Year titles at the FEI levels and more. Horses produced by the farm have been named USDF Horse of the Year, Young Horse champions, won High Point awards at the most prestigious shows in the county and been awarded Elite mare status, Premium ranking and inspection champions during their breed inspections. Many of these horses, from youngsters to show horses, are also for sale.

"Distinctive branding that accurately represents your products and services is essential in today's competitive marketplace," explains Amy Borgman, Vice President of Equestrian Sports Promotions, the marketing company that conceptualized and executed the new branding. "Horses Unlimited is producing some of the best sport horses in the country and we wanted the equine community to see that quality each time they visit the new website or see an advertisement."

The new website not only features the standard photos, pedigrees and videos, but also includes a blog from Sparks that will highlight her travels in 2009, such as the Florida circuit, the foaling season, the American Hanoverian Society meeting and other fun adventures. Visitors to the site will also find horses for sale and can view the Circle of Champions, a section that highlights top performers bred or sold by the farm. Information about the numerous inspections, clinics and a bi-annual auction can be found on the calendar. As the year progresses, additional resources will be added to the site.
