Following the announcement that Liz Halliday will contest the 2007 Le Mans Series as well as the American Le Mans Series season opener, the 12 Hours of Sebring, driving Team Modena’s Aston Martin DBR9, the Californian born British based dual-sportswoman has unveiled her provisional equestrian schedule for 2007.
With her goal of being selected for the US Olympic squad one day still burning brightly, Liz hopes to compete in around 14 events in a busy 2007 calendar which stretches from March until October.
Halliday will begin her season at Somerley Park on 28th March and will take in events all around the UK as well as in Europe. She plans to compete in CIC and CCI*** events in Martinvast (France) and Boekelo (Netherlands) as well as CCI** events at Houghton Hall (UK) and Bazoges (France).
Liz admits preparations for the new season are going well: “I have got all three of my horses quite fit and in good form which is really good news! Last week I went show jumping for the first time this year, at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire, with two of my horses, Harry and Oscar, and both of them jumped clear which is a great start. They are all where I want them to be at this point in the year as I get them ready for the first event of the season at Somerley Park.”
In a busy season Liz has been able to pick out one or two highlights to look forward to: “I’m really looking forward to Houghton Hall in May, because hopefully that will be Oscar’s first CCI** event, so we are keeping our fingers crossed that that goes well. I also plan to move him up to advanced this year, so 2007 could be a big year for Oscar! Gatcombe Park is another fantastic event that I’m looking forward to and I hope to be competing in both the Intermediate Championships and the Advanced there. All being well, Fox will be competing in both a CIC and CCI*** this year, and with any luck I will be able to ultimately qualify for the 2008 Olympics with him.”
