Liz Halliday Honoured by Pony Club
Equestrian News Release
The California-born dual sportswoman was one of six Pony Club alumni to be inducted into the Academy of Achievement during the annual Youth Congress, which ran along side the annual convention, in Boston last weekend.
Halliday was a member of the Fallbrook Pony Club in Southern California as a youngster, having begun riding at the age of 8. As a member she twice competed in the National Championships and was part of the So Cal Show Jumping Team which finished third in 1993.
Since moving to the UK Liz has continued to compete to the Advanced and CCI*** level and also combines her equestrian activities with her other career as a professional racing driver.
“The Pony Club was a huge part of my life when I was growing up, so to be recognized by them in this way is a huge honour” said Liz after the presentation. “It was fantastic to be involved with them again after 12 years and to spend time speaking to so many young, ambitious people at the youth congress.
“I’ve discussed doing some teaching clinics for them in the future and that’s something I’m really interested in. It would be nice to give something back after all the support the Pony Club gave me when I was growing up.”
Halliday will return to Three Day Eventing action this season after being sidelined for the second half of 2007 with a broken collarbone. Her early season provisional calendar will be announced shortly.
