Lucie and Alise Oken of Hi Hopes Farm Collect Top Ribbons During WEF Week Ten

Wellington, FL - March 19, 2009 - Top junior riders Lucie and Alise Oken were awarded several top ribbons during week ten of the Winter Equestrian Festival, held at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. The Oken sisters ride at Hi Hopes Farm LLC, located in Weddington, NC, and train with Steve Heinecke and Jeff Wirthman. Hi Hopes Farm LLC is owned by Marc and Celene Oken.

Alise Oken garnered the Large Junior Hunter 16-17 Year championship tricolor aboard her mount Take Away. The pair won the under saddle, one class over fences, and was second in the handy round. Alise also won over fences with her other Large Junior Hunter, Southern Style.

Lucie Oken had a very successful week competing in the equitation aboard Mid Accord. Lucie and Mid Accord won the blue ribbon in the Taylor Harris Insurance Services National Children's Medal 14 and Under. The pair then went on to compete in the Pessoa USEF Hunter Seat Medal: Section B, for the first time and earned second place honors.

Lucie Oken also competed in the $1,500 Children's Jumper Classic 13 and Under aboard Ibezia de Malle, earning the fourth place award.

"We have had a wonderful circuit," smiled Heinecke. "We've earned numerous awards each week and it has been very exciting. Lucie and Alise have both gotten progressively better and more consistent; I couldn't be happier. We've tried to make sure our horses are rested when necessary and don't get pushed too hard, and our plan seems to be working."

Last week Lucie Oken was champion with her Large Pony Hunter, Lands End Mad Hatter, and Heinecke earned the Second Year Green Working Hunter championship prize aboard Quintin during week eight. Alise Oken and Take Away are currently leading the circuit in the Large Junior Hunter 16-17 Years, and have been champion or reserve every week that they have shown at this year's Winter Equestrian Festival.

The Oken sisters plan to show again during week 11 of WEF and Alise Oken and Heinecke both hope to show in the USHJA International Hunter Derby during week twelve, Oken aboard Take Away and Heinecke aboard Quintin.
