Third Annual Benefit Luncheon for Chateaulond Equestian Center's "Helping Haitian Riders with Special Needs"

Wellington, NY - March 20- 2009 -- Romy Tschudi-Roy, together with "Nos Petits Freres et Soeurs," built a riding program in 2004 that enriches the lives of handicapped children in Haiti. She and fellow supporters will welcome 5 young Haiti competitors and their teachers to the Special Olympics, beginning at 9 AM, and then the Third Annual Luncheon For Cheateaublond Equestrian Center and the "Helping Haitian Riders With Special Needs" Benefit at noon at the Palm Beach Equestrian Center on Sunday March 22, 2009.

One of the program's biggest supporters is Daniela Stransky Secchi, a 13 year old rider and PBIC veteran competitor who has been actively helping raise awareness and actively work with the young Haiti riders' with special needs, for the past 3 years. Originally from Venezuela and now living in Miami, FL, Secchi will join Tschudi-Roy and the staff from the Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center and fellow supporters for a full day of competition, the lovely luncheon highlighted by a fabulous raffle filled with amazing prizes!

The conscientious 'tween', who would normally be spending the day competing at the PBIEC and keeps her own horses nearby at the Stransky Mission Stables in Wellington, has been working with numerous charities since she was 7 years old, including the Step By Step Foundation, Operation Smile and JustWorld International. Daniela, already an international FEI show veteran with more competitions planned oversees in 2009, takes great pleasure in assisting these children who love horses and want to ride - something she has been doing since she was 3 years old and she truly understands their passion.

Romy, Daniela, and the staff from Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center will assist the 5 visiting competitors while trying to to raise awareness and funds for this worthwhile program. To add to the occasion, the accompanying teachers from Haiti will attend the Special Olympics and receive instruction and tips to from the experienced training staff from Vinceremos.

It has been found that through riding and taking care of horses, challenged children are given a sense of normalcy, pride and independence. Parents and teachers alike have been delighted to see youngsters who are paralyzed feel movement, and those with mental disabilities thrive around horses. The results of riding, and caring for these beautiful, gentle creatures, has proven to help challenged children learn behavioral skills such as patience, communication, and the ability to show affection.

Tickets to the benefit lunch will include a complementary parking ticket, entrance to the entire show grounds, VIP seating for the exciting Grand Prix show jumping event, and lunch where raffle tickets may be purchased with guests winning amazing prizes that include lessons with Grand Prix veterans, beautiful local art from Haiti, equine accessories and clothing, and much more.
