International Luso-Brasileiro Auction

São Paulo, Brazil – The complete catalogue of lots for the 12th International Luso-Brasileiro Auction is now on-line in both English and Portuguese:

Coudelaria Ilha Verde has gathered together a stunning collection of Lusitanos for their 12th International Luso-Brasileiro Auction, including some spectacular youngsters alongside older, fully-trained horses, plus a number of blue-blooded broodmares with foals at foot. In addition, and of special interest to mare owners, will be the sensational offering of a limited number of coverings from the talented Rocas do Vouga stallion Toleirão da Broa – Champion of Champions at the 2008 International Lusitano Festival. Toleirão is by Pensador (Cantor) out of Canela (Universo), and presents a remarkable opportunity to access a superb and highly sought after Lusitano bloodline.

This auction, as always, focuses only on the best of the best, and although Lusitanos are best known for their multitude of gray shades, 2009 will see a number of highly popular ‘colourful’ Lusitanos, including two palominos: the pretty five-year-old ash blonde mare Aquarela VO (Donaire – Uva VO) owned by Victor Oliva, and the stunningly handsome, dark-coated stallion Zeus do Bosque (December 2003 by Donaire x Jacutinga do Top), owned by José Carlos Macedo. Likewise, buckskins also attract a great deal of attention, especially from foreign buyers, and this year Xamego de Quintana (December 2002 by Donaire x Luana das Videiras) owned by Paulo Salles, will fulfill everyone’s dream.

The 12th Luso-Brasileiro Auction takes place on May 16, the Saturday before the 28th International Lusitano Festival in São Paulo – and you are invited to participate in both of these popular events, as well as joining a tour of spectacular stud farms in the region. You will be personally accompanied throughout your stay in São Paulo, and this tour offers a unique opportunity to enjoy activities in an exotic location as well as the remarkable hospitality for which Brazilian Lusitano breeders are famous. Located in Araçoiaba da Serra, close to the city of Sorocaba, Couldelaria Ilha Verde hosted its first auction in 1998 and now attracts a capacity crowd of over 1,000 enthusiastic fans, including many foreign buyers as well as well-known Brazilian celebrities. It is now recognized as one of the world’s foremost opportunities to acquire Lusitanos that continually meet and exceed the essence of this outstanding breed. Partnering Ilha Verde’s proprietor Victor Oliva to bring the world this remarkable selection of Lusitanos are Manuel Tavares de Almeida Filho, Paulo Salles, Luiz Salgado, Tonico Pereira, José Carlos Macedo dos Santos and Ascendino Madureira Garcia.
