The Making of The New Saddle Club™ - Series 3

26-Part Series of SC Video Journals with Kia “Kristi” Luby

Behind-the Scenes features provide kids with in-depth look at the how a TV series comes to their home screens.

Toronto (July 29, 2008) –-“Ever wonder how The Saddle Club TV series comes to your television?” Kia Luby, who kids worldwide will remember as “Kristi” from Series 1 and 2, has a 26-part answer to that question for kids who love the television series. Kia is the host of “The Making of The Saddle – Series 3” Video Journals that will be part of each episode of the public television broadcasts of the new series. Distributed through American Public Television (APT Exchange) and Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc. (CPTV) the 26 half-hour episodes will premiere September 7, 2008.

The Saddle Club Video Journals were created as a special part of the public television broadcasts to support the educational mission of the series. The first two series included SCVJs featuring real kids participating in US Equestrian Federation events and other competitions, Girls Scout camps, the I Love New York Horse Show and the author of the book series, Bonnie Bryant, at Equine Affaire and BreyerFest.

The Series 3 SCVJs are an in-depth look at the making of the television series – shot in HD on location in Australia. The VJs feature every department – from Art, Camera and Costume, to Make-Up, Production and Writing; a day on set with the new cast and characters, the horses and horse master; tours of the set, tack room, stables at Pine Hollow; Bonnie Bryant’s visit to the set and the miniature donkey “Trouble.”

“We wanted to give kids a really special experience with this series,” says Kia Luby. “When I meet kids they always ask – what’s like to be on set, what are the other kids like, what’s the best part of acting, what is the hardest, who takes care of the horses? We hope these VJs answer all their questions and more,” says Kia.

Kia Luby has been riding since she was eleven and loves sports. She also loves singing and released an album with her friend Sophie Bennett (Stevie Lake) from The Saddle Club series. In Series 1 and 2, she played the role of Kristi Cavanaugh, Veronica DiAngelo’s closest ally and helped her undermine the Saddle Club girls whenever possible. Thrilled to be seeing old friends on the set of Series 3, Kia says, “It has been so much fun filming the SCVJs, I hope the kids enjoy them as much as we did making them.”
