Fade to Black & Mary McKenzie Win Baby Green Hunters

WELLINGTON, Fla., Feb. 28--Fade To Black and Mary McKenzie were champion of the Baby Green Hunters at the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising Thursday.

The seven-year-old black gelding owned and ridden by McKenzie of Los Angeles made an impressive debut with blue ribbon performances in both over fences classes and placing fourth in the under saddle. This is the first horse show for the black gelding who placed second Wednesday in the second over fences class after experiencing rain for the first time while in the ring.

"I think for his lack of experience he is a quick study," Mary said. "He has a lot of showmanship and a lot of jump. We look forward to going through the divisions with him."

Reserve champion was the five-year-old bay gelding, Rubicon, owned and ridden by Carol Delacy of Alden, N.Y. The pair won the under saddle and pinned third and seventh in the over fences.

Thursday's second place ribbons in the over fences went to Danny, a six-year-old bay gelding ridden by Alexa Davis of Homestead, Fla. for the first trip, and the second trip went to May Day, the five-year-old grey mare ridden by Mary Beth Casey of Medfield, Mass.
