McCann and Fernwalk Win Again in Junior Hunters

Saugerties, NY July 31, 2006 Just a few days after their fantastic win at the Show Circuit Magazine/USEF Junior Hunter Championships, Kacey McCann and Don Stewart Jr.s Fernwalk picked up another championship in the Small Junior 15 & Under Hunters. McCann, who trains with Susie Schoellkopf and Jennifer Alfano at SBS Farms Inc., was one of multiple riders who took home a tricolor ribbon this past week.

SBS Farms Inc. showed at the fifth week of the HITS-on-the-Hudson series on July 26-30, 2006. Starting the week off right, trainer/rider Jennifer Alfano of Buffalo, NY, swept the Regular Working Hunter division. She won the championship on Once and Again, owned by Merideth Bartolone, also of Buffalo. Once and Again won four out of the five classes in the division. The fifth win went to GG Valentine, owned by Barbara Kearney of Placerville, CO. GG Valentine won the reserve championship in the division.

Alfano also won the Green Working Hunter championship on Rock Star, owned by Jennifer Burger of Snyder, NY. Rock Star won four out of the five classes in the division.

McCann, of Palmyra, PA, continued her winning streak on the talented chestnut gelding Fernwalk. Their division championship vaulted them into third place overall for the competition. This week they were champions again in the Small Junior 15 & Under Hunters. They won two classes in the division.

McCann rode Marcellus to the championship in the Equitation 15-17 division. The pair won both over fences classes.

Trish Bookbinder of Cazenovia, NY, won two classes in the Farnam Adult Amateur 36-45 Hunter division and took home the reserve championship. They also won the Adult Hunter Classic this week.

Charlotte Jacobs of East Aurora, NY and her adorable pony Home At Last won the Medium Pony Hunter under saddle class and the USEF Pony Medal.

SBS Farms Inc. will stay in Saugerties for one more week of competition at the NY Horse and Pony Show on August 2-6.

The SBS Farms team is also preparing for the 60th Annual Buffalo International Horse Show, which is held at their home base, the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, on September 13-17, 2006. The show is great for equestrians to use as preparation for the fall indoor circuit and zone finals.
