Megan Udelson and All The Best Claim Two Hunter Tricolors at the Kentucky Summer Classic

Lexington, KY - August 7, 2008 - The weather was beautiful today at the Kentucky Horse Park, for the Kentucky Summer Classic. In the Stonelea Ring, championship and reserve championship prizes were awarded in the professional hunter divisions. Bobby Murphy designed an exciting course featuring large natural obstacles, including two snake fences.

Starting the day were the First Year Green Working Hunters. For the second week in a row Penny Lombardo took home the championship ribbon aboard Bring It On, owned by Ellen St. John of Delray Beach, FL. Lombardo said, "He jumped great today. He did those same kinds of jumps at Devon. He was wonderful and relaxed." The reserve championship award went to Bob Crandall on Sigal, owned by Caroline Gottwald of Richmond, VA.

Next to go in the Stonelea Ring were the Green Conformation Hunters. Terry Brown, of Canton, GA, also took home her second championship prize with her horse Tasty. Brown was very happy with the course Murphy designed. "I liked the course design, it keeps the horses interested. I think the horses like jumping natural obstacles." Brown added, "This week Tasty jumped a little sharper. He was a little fitter. I was very pleased."

Megan Udelson, of Russell, OH, and her mount, All The Best, took home the reserve championship award in the Green Conformation Hunters. They then went on to garner the championship tricolor in the Second Year Green Working Hunters.

"The course rode beautifully today. It was really fun to have these option jumps. My horse jumped super today. He was really on top of his game," smiled Udelson. "I bought him in Europe three years ago. He's been very successful. This year he's proven to step-up to the second year greens really well."

Udelson never miss the Kentucky Summer Horse Shows. "We love the facility here. You just can't beat the footing and the rings and the courses," she described. "The days off you go in the fields, and the horses just love it. There isn't a better facility to show at."

Beyond Belief, owned by Marian Giffen of Moorpark, CA, and Geoff Case took home the reserve championship ribbon in the Second Year Green Working Hunters.

Kelly Farmer had a very good day in the Regular Conformation Hunters, winning the championship and reserve championship prizes. The championship ribbon was awarded to Mio, owned by Rosalie Morton of Charlottesville, VA, and reserve championship was awarded to His Splendor, owned by Christine Macalla.

The final professional division was the Regular Working Hunters. Haven Schatt and Olivier, owned by Pinecroft LLC and Annie Frazier of Wellington, FL, had a clean sweep of the division, winning all the blue ribbons and the championship tricolor. The reserve championship award went to The New Yorker, owned by Christine Biederman of Dallas, TX, with Jordan Siegel in the irons.

Tomorrow junior hunter championship and reserve championship prizes will be awarded at the Kentucky Summer Classic. Amateur owner hunters will begin competing in the Stonelea Ring at the Kentucky Horse Park on Sunday. Championship and reserve championship prizes will be determined on the shows final day, Sunday, August 10, 2008.
