Missy Wryn & Paco Featured as Holistic Healer in the Appaloosa Journal Equestrian News Release
Paco, once again steals the camera with his white tipped ears and soft eyes on page 48 of the July 2007 Appaloosa Journal. Missy rides him bareback with just a piece of twine during her “W”Holistic Natural Horsemanship® clinics. “The recent Woman to Woman clinics were designed to focus on deepening the exchange of confidence and trust between horse and rider while balancing a woman’s nature with her horses nature”, Missy says. “Paco is the type of horse that will shut down at the slightest squeeze or imbalance from the rider which is perfect for those women who have experienced an accident with their own horse and need a reliable mount to rebuild their confidence”. The clinics are hands-on allowing audience members to participate in “W”Holistic and safety techniques Missy teaches along with an emphasis on empowering women. Missy adds “when other trainers and barn managers are mocking and making fun of us (women) because we call our horse’s precious, lovely or sweet pea I encourage women to use terms of endearment and affection when around their horses. Being mocked and made fun of gives women the impression they are wrong to display their affection and that their horse won’t respect them. I find that style of thinking unenlightened of the basic nature of the horse. Horses are naturally gentle creatures displaying affection within their herd at all levels of the pecking order. I encourage my clients to express their affection with their horses which only deepens their companionship and bond. I know for a fact that I can be an affectionate leader while maintaining my horse’s respect and that’s part of what I teach; the balance between our nature and our horse’s natures. Horses want to be in the comfort zone with their leader who displays affection and compassion along with confident leadership within their herd of two”.
Missy’s “Woman to Woman” and “W”Holistic Natural Horsemanship® clinics have been so popular that a new DVD series is currently being filmed. “For those women and men who are not able to attend my clinics I am bringing the clinics to them through a DVD series that hopefully will be released by November in time for Christmas”. Missy’s book “W”Holistic Natural Horsemanship® - Training the Whole Horse is currently in negotiations with a renowned publisher so the September release has been delayed. However her “W”Holistic training articles are available monthly and the DVD series is anxiously awaited by fans across the country.
