Pennfield Feeds Joins Monmouth County Horse Show as Jumper Sponsor

Freehold, NJ – August 18, 2006 – The 111th annual Monmouth County Horse Show, now underway at East Freehold Park in New Jersey, is one of the oldest continuous equestrian events in the country. Benefiting the Jane H. and John Marshall Booker Cancer Center at Riverview Medical Center, this USEF “AA” rated competition is also a “Ride for Riverview” fundraiser. Sponsorship at the Monmouth County Horse Show is just one of the integral parts of this multifaceted event that truly make it successful.

One of the sponsors for this year’s competition is Pennfield Feeds Animal Feed Technologies. Pennfield is a widely-respected, family-owned, Pennsylvania agribusiness serving customers in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regions. The corporation manufactures dairy, equine and specialty feeds. Pennfield Feed proudly sponsored the Level 6 Show Jumping Speed class in the Stillwell-Hansen Arena.

“Pennfield is an 80 year old, privately owned company that brings its traditional milling abilities into its products,” commented James Colaneri, Pennfield Dealer and Sales Representative for the Northeast United States. “We are a regional company that provides feed from Maine to Florida. The corporation has partnered up with Kentucky Equine Research, who is the nutritional consultant for the United States Equestrian Federation, to help us formulate feed for specific horses and specific disciplines.”

“Our corporation enjoys being a part of the Monmouth County Horse Show because we want to support those horsemen who have been supporting us. We can get feedback from them and continue to improve what it is that we’re making for their horses. We also have a lot of customers in this area, and it’s important to us that we support them. Kevin Babbington is one of our corporate sponsored riders, as is Callan Solem. Carol Thompson, the owner of Quiet Winter Farm, and her husband Willard also use our racehorse feed at the racetrack, so this is an important area for us, and we get feedback from our sponsored riders. That’s what it’s all about.”

Colaneri, along with Jennifer Horn-Gibble, the Marketing Specialist for Pennfield, and Carol Stillwell, the Chair of “Ride for Riverview,” presented Ramiro Quintana top honors in the Level 6 Speed Class. Quintana lead the victory gallop with his mount Orlana, owned by Kathryn Quirk.

“I’m a fourth generation family member of our family owned company,” explained Horn-Gibble. “We started in 1919, and we’ve been family owned ever since. We got involved with the horse industry about ten years ago because we love all animals. We started as a dairy company, and we enjoy equestrian events because we love getting closer to the animals. It’s great to see the connection between people and their horses and then watch their accomplishments together. We like to be able to provide the fuel for horses to perform for their riders and help them achieve their dreams.”
