NATBS Thoroughbred Classic Event to Benefit Rescue Organization

MADISON, NJ, December 12, 2008 – The North American Thoroughbred Society (NATBS), a company that promotes the interests of Jockey Club-registered North American Thoroughbreds, today announced that it is sponsoring the Thoroughbred Classic, a weekend dedicated to clinics, a show, and a tack sale, with proceeds to benefit Adapting Gaits farm, a Thoroughbred adoption and rescue organization in Lynnville, Tennessee. The Classic is open to Thoroughbreds only and offers a rare opportunity for Thoroughbred lovers to show their horses in In-Hand, Hunter, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Dressage, and English and Western Trail classes.

Entries open on January 15, 2009 and close on February 28, 2009 for the event, which will be held at Clearview Horse Farm, in Shelbyville, Tennessee on April 4 and 5, 2009. Horse show classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. both days. In addition, on Saturday April 4, a Sporthorse in Hand Overview clinic, taught by Elly Schobel, will be offered. On Sunday, April 5, three clinics will be offered:

-Hunter/Jumper Fix-A-Class, taught by Pat Wilker

-Dressage Fix-A-Test, taught by Elly Schobel

-Western Horsemanship Solutions, taught by Aaron Smith

“The Classic is a terrific response to overwhelming demand for an all-thoroughbred show, and it is also a great opportunity for competitors to warm up for USEA-, USEF-, and USDF-recognized events,” notes sporthorse breeder and stallion owner Lisa Cook Bevill. “We anticipate a fun, relaxed environment for seasoned competitors as well as for those trying out new classes for the first time.”

The Thoroughbred Classic will be held at Clearview Horse Farm's spacious facilities, located minutes from Shelbyville, TN. The farm welcomes all breeds and riding disciplines and provides boarding, indoor and outdoor arenas, a conference building, stalls for Classic participants, including stalls suitable for stallions, ample parking, trailer hook-up, and bed-and-breakfast accommodations.

Adapting Gaits, Inc. is a non-profit Thoroughbred retirement and rescue organization that places Thoroughbreds into suitable homes once their racing days are over. Co-founded by Carol Molloy and Roger Scruggs, members of the racing industry and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, Adapting Gaits helps transition horses who are either no longer able to race or who never developed their full potential at the race track.

Show sponsors are expected to include The Horse magazine, The Chronicle of the Horse magazine, SmarkPak Equine, and Leather Therapy. Proceeds will benefit Adapting Gaits Farm, a Thoroughbred rescue organization located in Lynnville, TN.

"We are delighted to present a learning and showing opportunity for Thoroughbred owners," said Anita Adamski, founder and chief executive officer of NATBS. "We look forward to an enjoyable weekend where Thoroughbreds can shine, regardless of riding discipline."
