New Horse-Sitting Contract details Diet, feeding Requirements, and Medications

The Pet Sitters International CD is designed to serve animal, owner and care giver

KING, NC, June 21, 2010 — Pet Sitters International (PSI), the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters, has announced a new specialty animal-care contract for pet sitters who provide at-home care for horses.

The contract, divided in four sections, covers pertinent details related to the horse owner, the owner’s residence, the animal being cared for and a section that outlines specific terms and conditions such as fees, veterinary care and legal considerations for terminating an assignment.

“Horse care requires entirely different processes and procedures than other types of pet care,” said Ellen Price, PSI’s academic manager. “As a result, horse-sitting assignments require more in-depth knowledge and discussion about the facilities and equipment.”

According to Price, the document’s details provide a logical flow of information exchange for the horse care giver and the horse owner that allows them to easily move through the major points of discussion. This information includes the animal’s diet and feeding requirements; medications and supplements; as well as turnout times, locations and restrictions. The contract also includes a permission to administer medicine form and a telephone reservation contract.

“Horses are just so different from one to another - unlike dog or cat care,” said Darlene Ehlers, PSI’s 2006 Pet Sitter of the Year™. “The PSI Horse-Sitting Contract covers critical points of horse-care and is very thorough.”

To best serve the animal, the owner and the care giver, the Horse-Sitting Contract was created with input from horse-care experts and experienced horse sitters. It is a documented care agreement between the pet owner and the service provider. The contract was specifically designed to contain all of the pertinent information a pet-care business owner needs to provide the best equine care

The Horse-Sitting Contact is available on a CD and is compatible with Microsoft Office Word. The easy-to-use format allows for personalization and is available through the PSIStoreOnline.com.
