Non Pro Hackamore and Non Pro Limited Finalists Decided at Celebration of Champions

Thursday morning, February 5, continued the preliminary competition of the National Reined Cow Horse Association World Championship Show, presented by John Deere. The classes, part of the Fort Dodge Animal Health NRCHA Celebration of Champions, featured top competitors from each of the NRCHA's eight affiliate groups, and all were vying for a spot on the final's draw sheet.

Topping the field that will advance to the clean slate finals of the Non Pro Hackamore was Sparta, Tennessee, competitor Paul Bailey. Bailey rode his horse, Fletch Hagan, to a score of 432.

Paul hopes his great score is repeatable. "I plan to prepare him for the finals the very same way that I prepared him today," noted the former Novice Non Pro Bridle World Champion. Bailey and his 5-year-old gelding, by Royal Fletch and out of Little Lady Hagan, also earned the 2008 Non Pro Hackamore South Central Regional Championship.

John Palleria, of Caldwell, Idaho, led the Non Pro Limited class on his horse, Frecklesonmyrooster with a score of 215.5 in the rein work and 222 in the boxing, for a 437.5 total. Frecklesonmyrooster is by Gallo Del Cielo and out of Miss Solano Playboy. The Non Pro Limited class was the largest of the World Championship Show, with 33 entries. The cutoff for a final's berth in the Non Pro Limited was 425.5.

The World Championship Show finals begin Friday, February 6, at 8am, and continue Saturday, February 7. The Fort Dodge Animal Health NRCHA Celebration of Champions is held at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena in San Angelo, Texas. The event begins daily at 8am, with the exception of Sunday, February 8, when it will start at 10am.
