NRBC ’07 Foal Enrollments Set New Record!

Byars, Oklahoma – 2007 was another record-breaking year for the National Reining Breeders Classic, according to NRBC Program Coordinator Kaye Nowlin. There were 2,684 foal enrollments in 2007, up over a hundred foals from the previous year.

The NRBC has defined success for years, and its officers and staff are quick to give credit to the people who support the program. “We appreciate the breeders and mare owners who support this program and we hope they will all be winners at the NRBC in another four years,” said Nowlin.

The NRBC is the most success stallion incentive program in the western performance horse industry, and in just its first 10 years, has paid out over $7.1 million! The 2008 show, set for April 14-20 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy, Texas, is expected to pay out over $1.2 million.

Since 100% of each year’s foal enrollment dollars goes to added money of the show four years later, it bodes well for future NRBC Shows. NRBC foal money is held in interest-bearing accounts until the foals’ 4-year-old year, so the 2008 show added money comes from the 2,248 foals that were enrolled in 2004, plus interest.

NRBC Secretary-Treasurer Cheryl Magoteaux noted, “It’s amazing that, in just eleven years, the NRBC has become such an integral part of the reining industry. Foal enrollments have steadily trended upward, and we passed a huge milestone in 2007, as the total number of NRBC foal enrollments has topped the 20,000 mark.”
