NRCHA World Show Open Preliminary Action Begins

With the conclusion of the Circle Y Ranch Southwest Reined Cow Horse Association Derby, the World Championship action began at the NRCHA Fort Dodge Animal Health Celebration of Champions. The top ten from each class advance to the clean-slate finals.

First, 20 exhibitors competed in the Open Two Rein. When the dust had cleared the arena, Lipan, Texas cowboy Bozo Rogers had ridden Blue Savanah Holli to a 215.5 in the rein work and 218.5 down the fence for a 434 total. Blue Savanah Holli, by Mecom Blue and out of Savanah Holli, is owned by Rebecca Mark-Jusbasche.

Second in the Open Two Rein preliminaries went to Steve Metcalf, who rode Uno San Tari to a 432 total. Uno San Tari, owned by Kelli Caves of Altoona, Florida, is by Smart Little Uno and out of Bonnie San Tari.

The Open and Limited Open Bridle preliminaries were run concurrently, with 36 exhibitors. The top spot in both divisions went to the team of Carol Metcalf and Dry N Play. The duo marked 219 in the rein work, and 218 in the cow work for a 437 total. Dry N Play is by Freckles Playboy and out of Dry Sweetie. The 10-year-old stallion is owned by Gina Gray of Copper Canyon, Texas.

Placing second in the Open was Gallos Rojo Rio Star and T.J. Good. Their score of 211 in the rein work, coupled with 221 down the fence was 432. Owned by Linda Mars, of Jackson, Wyoming, Gallos Rojo Rio Star is by Gallo Del Cielo and out of NMSU Joyce Pat Star.

Blue Allen piloted Whiskeys Starlight to second in the Limited Open Bridle division. They earned a composite score of 437 with a 219.5 in the rein work and 214.5 down the fence. By Starlights Joy and out of Whiskey Princess, Whiskeys Starlight is owned by Mitch and Christa Guerrieri of Franktown, Colorado.
