Todd Crawford and Smart Crackin Chic Top Open Herd Work

In action late Wednesday night at the National Reined Cow Horse Association Stakes, Todd Crawford rode his Snaffle Bit Futurity Champion Smart Crackin Chic (Smart Chic Olena X Kwackin) to the top of the leader board in the herd work. The stallion, owned by Singleton Ranches, marked a 219.

Just a half point behind him was Jake Gorrell on Sailin By Starlight (Topsail Whiz X Badger On The Loose) owned by Dana Roulet.

Chris Littlefield rode Maradas Sun (Master Merada X Easter Duet), owned by Terry Suart Forst, to a 215 in the herd work to top the Intermediate Open rankings. That was just ahead of a two-way tie between Robbie Boyce on Dick Caulfield’s Dual Playin (Playin Stylish X Dual N Missy) and T.J. Good on Har Mar Ranch’s CD Son Of Magnolia (CD Olena X Eye Of The Magnolia).

In the Limited Open Herd Work, Roger Bias rode Nice Sox (Captain Nice X Patty Dox) to a score of 213 for owners Vicki Silva and Frank Skinner. Danny Morais was next in the Limited Open placings with a 209 on The Real Dual (Mister Dual Pep X Real Desire) owned by Verna Silva.

The action is taking place at the Idaho Horse Park, in Nampa, Idaho, and viewers across the world are watching daily via the live internet feed at http://www.nrcha.com, provided by Galloping Video.

Thursday, in the Non Pro Rein work, Diana Ceresola tied herself to win, riding Smokumsprizlilcalboy (Smokums Prize X Lil Calgirl N Charge) and Arc No Smokin Please (Chic Please X Lena Smokum) to identical scores of 215. That made a clean sweep of every division, as she also won the Intermediate No Pro and Amateur competition.

Ceresola’s great day moved her to just behind the lead in the Intermediate Non Pro and to the lead in the Amateur Composite on Smokumsprizlilcalboy with 425 (210, 215). Marc Bourdet leads the Intermediate composite on CD Precious Peppy (CD Olena X Splash A Lil Cash) with a 427.5 (215, 212.5).

Jo Anne Carollo held the Non Pro composite lead, with a total score of 429.5 (217, 212.5) on Repeat Plan (A Master Plan X Lenas Solana). Marc Bourdet on CD Precious Peppy, was second at 427.5 (215, 212.5).

In the Amateur composite, Robin Flournoy was second with 420.5 (214, 206.5) on Annies Mister Rose (Mister Dual Pep X Fairleas Annie Rose.

Also on Thursday, the Open Bridle Spectacular Herd Work was held and Jon Roeser rode Boons Royal Legacy (Peptoboonsmal X Smogy Doc) owned by Brian and Cynthia Holthouse, to a score of 221 to take the lead. Smoky Pritchett rode a half brother, Jasons Peptolena (Peptoboonsmal X Amys Little Date) owned by Terry Ratto, to a 217 for the second place slot.

In the Non Pro Bridle Spectacular, Anne Reynolds and Magical Lena (Little Lenas Legend X Swayback Magic) took the lead with a 214. Gusti Buerger was just behind with a 211 on Cute N Cashy (Dox Bueno Dinero X Certa Too).

The NRCHA Stakes continues on Friday, beginning at 8 am. The event features $180,000 added money and the payout for the Stakes will approach $300,000.
