NTRHA Premier Futurity this spring to have $50K added

November 24, 2009 – Trainers, owners and competitors, take note: the inaugural NTRHA World Championship Futurity for 5-year-old rope horses hits Tulsa, Okla., on April 28 – May 3, 2009, along with the first-ever World Championship Sweepstakes for 6- and 7-year-olds. Added money to date has reached $50,000 for the six-day extravaganza, which will be the richest aged event in history for rope horses.

The Futurity is the first leg of the NTRHA Triple Crown, and all horses coming 5 in 2009 are eligible, regardless of where they have competed in the past. The Sweepstakes events for 6-year-olds and 7-year-olds in 2009 will showcase tomorrow’s rising stars and give exhibitors another chance at the Triple Crown.

All breeds can enter both the Futurity and the Sweepstakes – they just have to be age verified through breed registration papers or, if unregistered, must be NTRHA permitted. Horses can be shown in five sanctioned divisions: Open, Limited Open, Amateur and Novice Amateur.

Two full go rounds will be held and a percentage of teams at the top of the average will advance to the semifinals, where previous times are wiped clean. The top 20 from the semis will advance to the finals, where again the slate is wiped clean, and all 20 will earn a paycheck.

Owners may purchase as many slots as they like, but the total number of available slots is limited. Entries are open through March 30, 2009, and owners can choose to utilize the NTRHA’s automatic payment feature to automatically deduct from a checking account or credit card. If the slots are sold out prior to March 15, a waiting list will be kept in the order of entries made and anyone waiting will be notified when a slot is open. All owners and riders of Futurity and Sweepstakes entries must be members in good standing of the National Team Roping Association.

For forms needed to buy slots, declare horses, enter and make payments, visit http://www.NTRHA.com. To find out more, contact Taylor Tune at taylor.tune@ntrha.com or 817-598-0110.
