NutraCea Expands Usage of Stabilized Rice Bran With Purina Mills, LLC

NutraCea's Stabilized Rice Bran to be Added to Purina Mills' Premium Equine Formulas: Ultium And Amplify

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif., April 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NutraCea (OTC Bulletin Board: NTRZ), a world leader in stabilized rice bran technology, announced today its proprietary stabilized rice bran will be added as an ingredient to Purina Mills' premium brand equine feed formulas: Ultium(TM) and Amplify(TM). The addition of NutraCea stabilized rice bran results in the delivery of highly digestible, low starch, naturally occurring high fat plant based calories, while simultaneously mitigating the passage of starch into the hind gut of the horse. Overt levels of starch that are not fully digested in the small intestine will spill into the hind gut of the horse, leading to lower intestinal pH levels and potential bouts with Colic and Laminitis.

"The addition of NutraCea's stabilized rice bran as an approved and key ingredient in Purina Mills Ultium(TM) and Amplify(TM) Equine Feed Formulations, helps to provide the unique and proprietary characteristics of these products, researched for over three years, through Purina's R&D platform," said Randel Raub, Ph.D., Director, Research and New Product Development for Purina Mills, LLC.

"We believe that the addition of our stabilized rice bran in Purina Mills' Premium Equine Feed Formulations will set a new standard in equine health and nutrition, giving them a competitive advantage in the market," stated Kody Newland, Senior V.P., Sales for NutraCea. "We are committed to supporting Purina Mills as they expand distribution of their new and existing premium brand equine feeds."

Margie Adelman, Senior V.P. of NutraCea noted, "With over nine million horses in the United States, the equine market presents an excellent opportunity for NutraCea's product offerings. Equine owners are spending hundred of millions of U.S. dollars annually to care for their animals. Adding stabilized rice bran to their feed will contribute to a healthier animal and at the same time provide an incremental market for NutraCea's stabilized rice bran products."
