Open and Limited Open Hackamore Finalists Announced for NRCHA World Championship Show

The Open Hackamore Preliminaries of the National Reined Cow Horse Association World Championship Show, presented by John Deere at the Fort Dodge Animal Health NRCHA Celebration of Champions, on February 4, saw the top two spots go to Jake Telford on Kiss My Shiny Lips and Spark N Loulena.

Telford topped the field of 24 at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena in San Angelo, Texas, on Kiss My Shiny Lips, owned by Holy Cow Performance Horses LLC, of Santa Ynez, California, with a score of 441.5. Kiss My Shiny Lips is by Shining Spark and out of Lipschic, tied for Reserve Champion in the Open Hackamore at the 2008 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, behind Spark N Loulena.

Spark N Loulena, owned by Floyd Miller and Newt White, earned a 438.5 under Telford’s guidance. Spark N Loulena is by Shining Spark and out of Mary Lou Lena. The Open Hackamore finals of the NRCHA World Championship Show will be held Saturday, February 7.

In the Limited Open Hackamore prelims, Jeremy Meadors lead the finalists with a score of 428.5 on Pink Nitro Glycerine, by Nitro Dual Doc and out of Springtime Tari. Pink Nitro Glycerine is owned by Larry Knapp. The Limited Open Finalists will compete on Friday, February 7.

The Fort Dodge Animal Health Celebration of Champions runs through February 8 at the 1st Community Federal Credit Union Spur Arena in San Angelo, Texas. The event begins at 8am daily, with the exception of Sunday, February 8, when the World’s Greatest Horseman finals will begin at 10am.

The National Reined Cow Horse Association, celebrating its 60th Anniversary in 2009, is the governing body of cow horse competition, is responsible for promoting the sport, insuring high standards of competition and educating members and the public about the history and tradition of the cow horse.
