Over the Hill Farm Reigns Supreme at Atlanta Summer Classic I

Conyers, GA- June 21- The first week of the Atlanta Summer Classic was held on June 15-19 and riders from Over the Hill Farm, led by Bill Schaub, had a fantastic week of showing. They racked up six championships and two reserve championships and will be the ones to beat next week when competition continues in Atlanta.

The most decorated young rider of the week was Sophie Read, of Lake Mary, FL. She piloted Redfield Farm and Bill Schaub’s HiLite to the Small Pony Hunter championship by winning the model, conformation, and over fences classes, placing second in the under saddle, and third in the remaining over fences class. Read also won the NCE Small Pony Equitation 2’3” class and the NHJL Small Pony Classic. On her other mount, Pow Wow, she won the WIHS Pony Equitation class and was second in the NCE Large Pony Equitation 3’.

Read also rode her own King Q to championship honors in the Pre-Green Pony Hunter division. She won two classes and was second, fourth, and fourth in the remaining classes to capture the tricolor. On her own pony, Read also won the NCE Pre Green Pony Equitation 2’-2’6”.

Bill Schaub is known for producing some of the nicest ponies in the country, and his up and coming green ponies are the newest crop of champions. In his first show ever, In a Dream won five out of six classes to win the championship in the Large Green Pony Hunter division with rider Megan Massaro. Massaro also rode Katie Hogan’s Hint of Blue to the Large Pony Hunter tricolor. The pair won two classes and were second, fifth, and sixth in the other classes. Hint of Blue and Massaro also finished third in the NHJL Large Pony Classic.

Not to be outdone, the adult amateur riders came away with multiple wins. Lee Cesery guided Toberone to two wins, two second place finishes, and a third place to win the Adult Amateur 46 & Over Hunter championship. Cesery rode What D’Ya Know and won the Amateur-Owner 36 & Over Hunter tricolor. What D’Ya Know also won the NHJL Amateur Hunter Classic.

At the prestigious Devon Horse Show held earlier in the month, Cesery and What D’Ya Know wree among the top amateur-owner hunters in the nation when they won a class and received a sixth place. They were very close to winning the reserve championship, but had to settle for two top ribbons.

In the Adult Amateur 36-45 Hunter division, the champion was Reveille and Roberta Previ. They won two classes and received a second, fifth, and sixth to come out on top in the division. Reveille also received high ribbons in the First Year Green division with professional rider Hunt Tosh.

Tosh also rode Schaub’s horse, Stroller, in the over fences part of the Baby Green Hunter division, where they won one class. Over the Hill Farm assistant trainer rode Stroller to a second place finish in the under saddle, and Stroller was awarded the reserve championship.

Nicole Baley and Ceillia, in their first show together, were champions in the Children’s Hunter 14 & Under division. Another winner was Michele Allison, who rode Courtney Rodrigue’s Starring Role to a win in the NCE Pre-Adult Equitation 2’6” class.

Over the Hill Farm will continue to show in Atlanta for another week, where they will likely be able to win blue ribbons and come away with more championships.
