Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W/Y Kicks Off with Nearly 50 entries in the Grand Prix

Loxahatchee, FL— The 25th annual Phelpssports.com Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W/Y promises dressage fans excitement with nearly 50 entries in the CDI Grand Prix. The roster features Olympic riders like Lisa Wilcox, Lars Petersen, Dorothy Morkis, and Ashley Holzer along with top riders Courtney King, Christopher Hickey and Michael Barisone. And of course there are the equine fan favorites like Rocher and Lingh that are sure to rock the house.

“We are thrilled with the number and quality of entries,” said show manager Evelyn O’Sullivan. “The depth of the CDI entries is incredible. Many of the best riders have several horses, which is wonderful.” The CDI classes will run all day beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. this Friday-Sunday.

The show kicks off with national level classes on Thursday afternoon as well at the CDI jog scheduled for 3:00. This will be followed by the Palm Beach Dressage Derby Inspection Reception hosted by Markel Insurance Specialist and Dressagedaily.com’s Mary Phelps.

While the Derby has become famous as one of the top international dressage shows in the country, there’s more than just great horses and riders during this 25th anniversary celebration. A few highlights of the schedule include:

The Derby Art Show and Reception—Friday, February 29, 2008, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

This fun event features an art show, reception with the artists and refreshments. Among the artists whose work will be showcased are Beverly Zimmer, Gisela Pferdekaemper, Michele Hundt, Patricia Powers and Marilyn Fallon.

The Taste of the Derby—Saturday, March 1, 2008, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Bring your friends for an afternoon of shopping and hospitality hosted by the boutiques at the Derby. Participating vendors will offer refreshments and fun. Shop til you drop!

An Olympic Tribute—Saturday, March 1, 2008 during the lunch break

You won’t want to miss this! Join the Derby in honoring Olympic dressage athletes during this tribute to the many great athletes who have supported the Derby since its inception.

The PhelpsSports.com Palm Beach Dressage Derby is located at the Horse Park at Equestrian Estates in Loxahatchee. Parking and admission are free on all days. A map, complete schedule and additional information can be found at http://www.pbderby.com.
