Phelps Media Group, Inc. International Enters 2006 in Full Force

Wellington, FL-December 12- Phelps Media Group, Inc. International (PMG), an equestrian related public relations firm based in Wellington, Florida, embarks into the 2006 season with an expanded and experienced staff. PMG’s endeavors for the new year include the Al Maktoum Challenge CSI-W Grand Prix in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the $65,000 Green Cove Springs CSI-W Grand Prix, presented by Sleiman Enterprises, held in Green Cove Springs, Florida, and the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, Florida. Held from January 25 through March 19, 2006 at Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club, the Winter Equestrian Festival is the world’s largest and longest sport horse competition.

The 2006 WEF circuit, produced by Stadium Jumping, Inc., includes World Cup trials, qualifying events for the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, and a new $200,000 FTI Rider Challenge bonus pool, sponsored by FTI Consulting of Annapolis, MD. In addition to WEF, PMG will cover an extensive list of shows for the rest of the year, including international competitions such as the FEI Show Jumping World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, and the European Samsung Super League Tour.

PMG covers the three Olympic disciplines of Show Jumping, Dressage, and Three-Day Eventing. A PMG representative will be attending the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials in Badminton, Great Britain, as well as the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, CCI 4* in Lexington, Kentucky. Dressage will also receive international coverage, with a writer and photographer scheduled to attend the FEI World Cup Final Dressage in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Mason Phelps, Jr., Founder and President of PMG, has assembled an impressive staff that encompasses first hand knowledge of the equestrian industry and additional skills applicable to Public Relations. “With such a large staff, we have the capability of covering competitions that take place simultaneously…on different continents,” commented Phelps. “We have a young staff, with new perspectives and fresh ideas. Most importantly, everyone at PMG knows the horse industry. Most of us have ridden and shown ourselves, so we understand competition and the passion involved in the sport.” A former Olympian, Phelps launched his PR company in 2004 and experienced unprecedented success from the very beginning.

The Phelps Media Group, Inc. International office operates with both full-time and contributing employees. Press relations are managed by Cynthia Brewster-Keating, who also coordinates advertisement and manages the office. Kendra Cecieta, one of PMG’s newest additions, handles press relations and marketing. Jennifer Wood, Kenneth Kraus, and Jenny Ross contribute to PMG as principal writers and photographers. Wood brings an expertise in marketing and sales to PMG, while Kraus has an established background in media work and horse show announcing. Ross has worked extensively at shows and is a USEF licensed jumper judge.

In addition, Mike Y.A. Teitelbaum promotes and publicizes the sport of polo through his writing, and Mary Hilton eloquently covers dressage and social aspects of the equestrian world. Hallie McEvoy, also a PMG writer, is a USEF licensed judge in hunters and hunter seat equitation who has written and published three equestrian books.

Jean Llewellyn writes for PMG with a longstanding career in equestrian journalism. For three years during the ‘90s, Jean worked as global media coordinator for the Samsung Nations’ Cup series and has also provided press services to other major industry sponsors in both Europe and the Americas. Her husband, Peter Llewellyn, photographs for PMG and owns his own photo agency, HorseSource Ltd., which has grown to become one of the largest collections of equestrian images in the world. It includes a unique historical archive dating back to 1888.

Other PMG photographers include Susan Stickle, who has been shooting professionally since 1995 and covers local, regional and National Dressage championships. Her work has appeared in calendars and on book covers, and her print of the World Trade Center Tribute in Lights hangs in the United States Customs Department Headquarters in Washington, D.C. She began her own photography business, Hoof Prints, in 1995.

Photographer Randi Muster of Mustphoto, Inc. has been the Official Photographer at WEF for the past two years and works with PMG to promote the equestrian industry. Their main hunter and jumper photographer during WEF, Muster also provides photographs during such shows as the Buffalo International Horse Show in Buffalo, NY, the Monmouth County Horse Show in East Freehold, NJ, and the Syracuse Invitational Sporthorse Tournament and ASPCA Maclay National Championships in Syracuse, NY.

Amber Heintzberger, a PMG writer and photographer, is an avid rider who brings knowledge of eventing and dressage into the PMG office. Residing in South Carolina, Heintzberger stays involved in the equestrian community through showing and writing.

Ken Braddick, also a writer and photographer for PMG, founded HorseSportUSA, a full color glossy magazine to serve the high performance hunter/jumper and dressage communities. He was the international editor of a global news agency based in New York before leaving in 1982 to found the world’s first digital photo satellite network that served The New York Times, News Corp., Knight-Ridder, Tribune Company, and Newhouse News Service.

Jake Cormier works for PMG as a writer, photographer, and web designer. He has experience in writing, photography, marketing, customer service, and media, as well as web and print design and computer programming. He currently serves as PMG's Canadian correspondent and will join the PMG staff full-time in May of 2006.

In 2006, the Phelps Media Group team will cover national and international events to further promote the equestrian industry in the public eye. As the largest equestrian PR company in the country, PMG has received high acclaim for its lightning-speed, thorough coverage and exciting new developments.

“Phelps Media Group, Inc. International has rapidly accumulated a roster of impressive clients in the equestrian world from coast-to-coast and internationally,” said Mason Phelps. “We look forward to expanding our international show coverage and generating the attention for equestrian sport that it deserves.”
