WELLINGTON, FL (March 29, 2007) – A handful of highly-regarded polo players are trading in their mallets and helmets to learn the subtle art of mixing martinis and pouring beer as celebrity bartenders to benefit Team USA on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at Wellington Golf & Country Club.
Among the players who will serve as mixologists are Stevie Orthwein Jr., Chris Nevins and Joseph Stuart, who are all playing on Team USA/Michelob Ultra. Other players invited to help with the fundraised by getting behind the bar are Sugar Erskine, Jeff Hall and Nicolas Roldan as well as several surprise guests.
The event is open to the public and features music and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Tips for the players will benefit Team USA for their training and future travel expenses.
Team USA is in training for the North and Central American playoffs which take place April 28 through May 6 in Tecamac, Mexico. Team USA must finish in first or second place to qualify for the finals.
Part of the team’s preparation includes competing in the 14-goal Outback League in April in Wellington and the 18-goal Gold Cup in Boca Raton.
