Pony Press Announces Two More Horsewomen to be Part of Women & Horses Expo

Springfield Missouri: The Pony Press, along with our other sponsors, is thrilled to report that two more horsewomen, Ada Gates Patton and Donna May West, who are at the top of their field will be part of the Women & Horses Expo.

Ada, who is farrier with 30 years experience and owner of the Harry Patton Horseshoeing Supplies in Monrovia, California, was the first woman in the U.S. and Canada to be licensed to shoe Thoroughbred races horses on the track. She shoed horses at the Santa Anita Racetrack. She shoed for Monty Roberts in the late 70's and 80's as well as worked with Monty at his Flag Is Up Ranch. She recently received the Edward Martin Humanitarian Award while attending the American Farriers Association Convention held in Lexington, Kentucky. She was also invited to serve on the Farrier Committee for the Alltech FEI World Games to be held in Lexington Kentucky in 2010. Ada is currently filming a DVD with Monty Roberts for his education series. Ada will be presenting and lecturing on " Demystifying the Care of the Hoof" at the Women & Horses Expo.

Donna West, who is a Horsemanship Safety Association Master Clinician, will also be speaking at the event. Donna is a life time horsewoman who showed her first horse at the age of 7 and her horse career has spanned over 40 years. Donna has shown Western and English pleasure, equitation, halter, showmanship, gymkhana, dressage, over fences, reining, endurance, and driving, to mention a few. She has worked with Mules, Gaited Horses and Mustangs. Donna was one of four trainers from the United States to be part of the "Brumby Gentling Team". They traveled to Australia and worked with the Brumbies ( wild Australian horses) and the Australian people to share with them ideas and techniques to domesticate their beautiful wild horses. Donna conducts clinics around the country and trains and instructs as well. Her goal as an equestrian instructor is to develop and/or enhance the relationship between horses and humans. Donna will be doing a presentation on "Handling Horses Safely" (a demonstration that benefits all levels of horse owners) as well as lecturing on the topic of Mustangs and what people need to be aware of before they adopt a wild horse.

Pony Press and all of the Women & Horses Expo sponsors (Agri Fresh, Alltech, Chocolate Horse Farm, Horses in Art Magazine, Smartpak, Taura Farms, and W-K Chevrolet) are so pleased to have these two horsewomen join the other horsewomen who will be bringing their expertise and knowledge to the event. The event will be held October 24-26, 2008 at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Historic Sedalia, Missouri.
