Wellington, FL - July 2, 2009 - Phelps Media Group, Inc. International (PMG), a leading public relations firm specializing in the equestrian industry, is pleased to announce that Pony Lane Farm has joined its expanding list of clients. Pony Lane Farm is based out of South Jordan, UT, and Wellington, FL, and is home to two of the country's top young riders, Kelsey and Madeline Thatcher.
Sixteen-year-old Kelsey Thatcher and 12-year-old Madeline Thatcher train with Maggie Jayne of Our Day Farm in Elgin, IL. Both Kelsey and Madeline grew up riding with the encouragement of their mother, Maura, and have each quickly risen up the competitive hunter, jumper, and equitation ranks. The girls began training with Jayne a year and a half ago and now compete with some of the best horses in the country.
Mason Phelps, Jr., Founder and President of Phelps Media Group, Inc. International, is happy to have Pony Lane Farm as the newest addition to the PMG clientele. "Kelsey and Madeline Thatcher are two of the best young riders coming up in the equestrian sport, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to promote their promising careers," Phelps stated.
Kelsey Thatcher and CarlottaThe 2009 show season has already been the most successful of the girls' riding careers, and they have both set high goals for themselves as the year continues. Kelsey has earned several of her biggest wins this year in the hunters and jumpers. She won her first grand prix in May in the $25,000 Roc USA Grand Prix at the Showplace Spring Classic and her second just a few weeks later in June in the $50,000 Showplace Productions Grand Prix at the Showplace Spring Spectacular. Both grand prix wins were with her 11-year-old Warmblood mare Carlotta, but Kelsey has also done very well this season with jumpers Milous De Fontaine, Shotgun, and Merlin 369.
Kelsey has been very successful with her Junior Hunter Gianni this year, winning three championships at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) and a championship at the Showplace Spring Spectacular. She has also done very well with her hunters Mirasol and Namesake, rides in the equitation with a horse named Raven that she leases from Missy Clark and North Run, and has started showing Pony Lane Farm's newest horse, Early Applause.
Pony Lane Farm recently purchased Early Applause, who is one of the top hunters in the country. Kelsey has started showing him in the Junior Hunters, and Maggie Jayne is showing the seven-year-old gelding in the professional hunter divisions. Jayne and Early Applause started off together by winning the Green Conformation Hunter championship at this year's Devon Horse Show in May and went on to win the $15,000 Chronicle of the Horse/USHJA International Hunter Derby and Green Conformation Hunter championships at the Showplace Spring Spectacular in June.
Kelsey has an exciting summer coming up as she prepares to represent Zone 8's Junior Jumper Team at this year's North American Junior Young Riders Championships. She will also be competing in Chicago throughout the summer trying to maintain her goal to be in the top three for the Showplace Leading Open Jumper Rider Series. Kelsey is currently sitting in second place with $23,100 in prize money earned.
Madeline Thatcher has done very well in the Pony Hunters for the past several years and has just moved up to showing in the Junior Hunters as well. Madeline has won numerous championships with her medium pony Hillcrest Blue Cwilt, and she is doing very well this year with her famous large pony Beau Rivage that she leases from owner Casey Green. Thatcher and her pony Bally Mac have done very well together in the pony jumpers and are currently at the top of the standings for the North American League Pony Jumper championships.
Madeline shows in the Junior Hunters as well with her horses Capone, Enticer, and Francesca. Madeline and Francesca won the championship in the Large Junior Hunter 15 and Under at the recent Showplace Spring Spectacular, and the mare has done very well in the Regular Conformation Hunters with Maggie Jayne. Jayne and Francesca won the circuit championship in the Regular Conformation Hunters at WEF, were reserve champion both weeks at the Showplace Spring Spectacular, and reserve champion at the Devon Horse Show so far this year.
Kelsey and Madeline have a busy summer ahead of them as they will be showing in the Chicago area for most of the summer and will each take a trip to Lexington, KY, to compete in July and August. Kelsey will compete in the North American Junior Young Riders Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park in July and Madeline will compete in the 2009 USEF Pony Finals at the Kentucky Horse Park in August. They will then both compete at the indoor horse show circuit through the fall.
