Thoroughbred-Charities of Amerca/Toba Stallion Season Auction Grosses $1.9 Million
Equestrian News Release
Thoroughbred Charities of America/TOBA held their 16th annual charity
stallion season and art auction on Saturday, December 3rd. The event was
held at CandyLand Farm in Delaware and audiocast to Cross Gate Gallery in
Lexington. With 700 people participating, the gross total raised was
$1,900,000. Unsold seasons are now being offered, potentially bringing the
total to over $2,000,000.
Highlights in the sale of 210 stallion seasons include 4 seasons selling for
over $100,000 a piece: Empire Maker, Mineshaft, Pulpit and Unbridled's Song.
This auction's results, coupled with the TCA/TOBA Saratoga Golf Tournament
in August and donations, will put TCA revenue for the fiscal year at over
$2,200,000.
TCA is grateful to the 90 stallion farms for their donations and those who
purchase their seasons through this auction. Without such strong industry
support, the groups enabling the secondary careers for Thoroughbreds and
those unsung heroes working with them, would not get the grants so vital to
each of them. For more information about the non-profits TCA supports and
